Pakistan reiterates support for one-China policy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its traditional support for the one-China policy, saying it considers Taiwan an integral and inalienable part of mainland China. Foreign Office spokesperman Muhammad Sadiq said this in a statement issued on Thursday.

He said Pakistan’s policy holds that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole governing body for all of China, which includes Taiwan. He said Chinese Senior Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the issue of Taiwan with interlocutors in Islamabad, who reiterated Pakistan’s well-known support for the one-China policy. “The one-China policy is not only Pakistan’s longstanding principled position but is also the consensus position of the international community, as clearly reaffirmed by the UN General Assembly Resolution 2758,” he said. staff report
