Pakistan Records Highest Ever Exports for December

What did we export in the pandemic?

Dolla Dolla Kaching Kaching all good. But what went out of the country apart from criminals and mafia kings?

Brother, Tax reforms are tricky and difficult, because over the decades, deliberately a culture is created in which nobody wants to declare their incomes and pay taxes on them. When top brass was doing it, when the FBR officers were corrupt asking bribes. Why common people and businessmen would pay their taxes!!

The Education and health reforms are linked to the tax reforms.

Until Pakistan start to collect more taxes, how it can spend more on Health and Education, which are more pressing needs!!

Another thing needs to change, on which Pakistanis are not paying attention is the 18th Amendment.
That's why PPP would never resign from the assembly seats, unless it becomes untenable for them to stay in assemblies. Zardari is playing this game, to make as much money as possible before the next elections, which does not guarantee for PPP to win majority in Sind.

He makes money from the funding Sind receives due to 18th. IF any doubt , look at the Karachi roads, hygiene, collection of rubbish, transportation etc. Most of the money is disappearing in some dark and deep hole.
If you ask smaller provinces like KPK
They are happy with 18th amendment because now instead of center building a lahore islamabad motorway in 1990s when half population was illetrate the provinces have more money to spend locally

However finance award has to be looked at
Population of karachi hyderabad is more then interiro sindh..if they can get census done correctly they can dislodge PPPP from sindh provided karachi people have some sense

Karachi still votes for PPPP
Look at syed ghani for example won from karachi

Pakistan exports for the month of December 2020 have grown by 18.3 percent to USD 2.357 billion as compared to USD 1.993 billion in December 2019.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Pakistan exports continued to flourish hitting over USD 2.3 billion, the highest ever in the month of December.

“It gives me immense pleasure to inform that, Alhamdolillah, according to provisional data, Pakistan exports for the month of December 2020 have grown by 18.3 percent to USD 2.357 billion as compared to USD 1.993 billion in December 2019, an increase of USD 364 million over December 2019,” shared Advisor to Prime Minister on Trade and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood in a series of tweets on Friday.

The advisor said that the figures are “the highest export ever in the month of December.”

For the period July-December 2020, Pakistan’s exports increased by 4.9pc to USD 12.104 billion as compared to USD 11.533 billion in the corresponding period last year

the real problem is we make cheap things and sale them we better try to make something expensive for god sake kab tak mango kapra or cotton export kareen gay

All indicators pointing towards 3+ % economic growth this year. I hope it exceeds beyond 4%. Government itself cautiously conceded recently that growth might be more than targetted for this year. The pace of economic turnaround was even beyond the government's calculations.

Goes to show if provided the right structure and policies Pakistan can easily grow at more than 5% for sustained period.

Sir China earns $150b just by exporting low tech kapra. Heck even Bangladesh earns $40b by exporting kapra.

Our economic woes would greatly reduce if today we were exporting $40b worth of textile as opposed to $15b.

While I agree the future focus should be higher tech like software and hardware but we haven't even maxed out earnings in low tech yet.

Agree. Value add of Pakistan on products is low, eg Pink Salt should be a gold mine for Pakistan but it is not as it is sole raw to UAE + India who do the value add processing and sell it for a fortune...

First get enough exports to save country from default then talk about better quality of exports

18th amendment have done nothing but bring Pakistan to default every few years. So called smaller provinces have ruined PIA, Railways, steel mills etc Electricity theft is highest in KP.

Ruined federation have not brought any prosperity to KP. See GDP growth rate, real barometer of prosperity.

Lets make electricity even more expensive to punish honest customers. End result? More and more industrialists are investing in their own private power plants. Wapda is losing honest customers.

Actually what’s being talked about is turning the MOUs that were signed earlier into contracts. The thing holding it back is the settlement of receivables of the IPPs (Rs450 billion) for which the plan is as below:

o 1st Installment: 33.3% of outstanding amount (breakup will be; 33.3%: Cash and 66.7%: Floating PIBs) in Jan’21
o 2nd Installment: 33.3% of outstanding to be paid in Jun’21 (breakup will be; 33.3%: Cash and 66.7%: Floating PIBs) and,
o Final amount in Dec’21 (breakup will be; 33.3%: Cash and 66.7%: Floating PIBs)

Once the settlement agreement is in place the IPPs will sign the agreements in line with the MOUs that were signed earlier.
And its energy sector that makes imran khan sleepless so i confident he is taking it serious

Lets hope he can bulldoze through iran gas pipeline too if iranains budge on prices
There are whispers of off-shore hydrocarbon reserves again ;)
