Chinese quarantine authorities have given the green light to importing mangoes from Pakistan with the signing of a protocol last week, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
The protocol maps out the phytosanitary requirements that all packhouses and storage facilities will need to meet in order to ship mangoes to the Asian giant.
The story reported the protocol would be in place for two years, with an automatic update for another two years.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Masood Khali, told the news agency the signing marked a market access breakthrough for his country’s mango industry.
All mangoes shipped under the arrangement will need to undergo hot water treatment.
