2050 maybe or later
By opening borders he didnt mean to make Pakistan and India one country .Are you insane? What you are saying amounts to Pakistan being diluted in the huge belly of India. Is that what you want things to go. Then why we made Pakistan in the first place?
AFAIK , the rail route alrdy existsJust imagine the Pakistanis making a rail link right next to the border or LoC and Pakistani troops arriving to the Indian border in trains run by locomotives made in India.
Why Pakistan does not buy locomotives from Iran? Bangladesh is buying Iranian locomotives which are based on German and French technology. They are cheap and reliable with DESA Diesel built engines. Why should Pakistan buy/rent from India?
B'cos committee don't have you as chair person ....

Diesel Locomotive Works - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"It has supplied locomotives to other countries such as Germany, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Mali, Senegal,[4] Sudan [5] Tanzania, Angola, and Vietnam and also to a few users within India, such as large power plants."
Tell that to ur politiciansIndia's locomotives are based on GE and Alco designs which are old and gas guzzlers. Iranian locomotives on the other hand are based on EuroRunner and Alstom which are newer and much more fuel efficient. With high fuel prices the choice is obvious. If Pakistan gets the Indian deal then our foreign policy get weakened. What kind of a message would we be sending to Kashmiris? But if we get the Iranian deal then our foreign policy would be stronger since we would be making Americans behave. This is called killing two birds with one stone.
What?, we have engines as far as i know, the problem was shortage of Diesel and lubes, hence the already present engines had no lubes to fill them, and no diesel to run them, whatever the amount of engines we get, problem will be the same, ineffective management, and no diesel whatsoever.
