Islamabad, June 11 — Pakistan will soon launch a "Police FM" radio service to provide information about traffic jams, accidents, crimes and weather conditions besides broadcasting interviews and talk shows to create awareness among the people.

The radio service would start soon after getting permission from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and allotment of frequency by the Frequency Allotment Board (FAB), the Daily Times reported.

The FM service will be primarily launched in port city Karachi.

This was discussed at a meeting presided over by Sindh's Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Shah.

The police chief also reviewed the e-policing project, under which there would be computerised registration of complaints in 11 police stations in Karachi.

The e-policing project would include the traffic control and command centre, the helpline or "Madadgar 15" call centre and the GIS vehicle tracking system.
