Pakistan players shut out of IPL again

Well about other nations with IPL style leage

Australia:- All confirmed. Big Bash 2012 will have IPL style league. The state teams sold minority stake to private investors. 2 Major Indian houses have also invested in Big Bash

USA:- With NZ Board investing in US along with again an Indian company, the T20 league is all proposed to start in June 2012. By this year end they will invite the investors and work on proposals

England:- They have had detail studies. A lot of talk with private investors. They infact have to finalise on the structure and it is also expected to start in 2012

Bangladesh:- NCL T20 sold franchisee for 100,000$ for a some time period (I think 1 year). Again they will go for more investments and go ahead with the league. It is very small in scale

SL:- No franchise model but will allow foreign players

WI:- Invites foreign teams to its tournament. Last time 2 English counties and Canada played in it

Pakistan:- Heard a numerous times about something proposed. Nothing concrete. I believe investment is the problem. They wanted to start in UAE but nothing has been even heard of it.

From the chats I believe People are confident of investment houses from Pakistan. In that case a tournament with Middle East investment and matches in UAE should be started. Pakistan players need money otherwise they are lured to other means. PCB should think over it

Well its called the INDIAN Premier League and Indians can decide which nation can participate.

Just like PCB got its own T20 league.

I think the Pakistani nation progresses when they are challenged.

The 20-20 League that has been started since 2008 should be continued. It will pick up momentum once we start inducting foreign players as well.

FINAL OVER - RBS 20-20 Cricket Gaddafi Stadium at Night 8 Oct 2008 Lahore Pakistan

30,000 people watched it, plus another 26+ million on TV .

The most logical choice would be

Pakistan + UAE + Srilanka + Bangladesh setup 20/20 world championship league

Ideal solution -

yea right. sri lankan players are already participating in IPL since 2008. so good luck with the league with bangladeshi and pakistani players. oh i forgot UAE players will be star attractions in that league.

I think these IPL franchise owners do not have any interest in Cricket. They only interested in big money. Its a hollow competition anyway, with lots of glamour and money but very little substance :)

When player auctions for the 2011 Indian Premier League 20-20 cricket tournament begin in Bangalore Saturday, there won’t be a single Pakistani cricketer up for grabs.

Not one features, despite many being leading proponents of 20-20, the shortest (and most recently developed) format of cricket play. Aside from the first IPL tournament in 2008, Pakistani players have been shut out of the league since a terror attack in Mumbai in November that year linked to terror groups in India’s neighbor.

There was an uproar at last year’s auction, when none of the 11 Pakistani cricketers available received any bids. But it’s not exactly clear if the lack of Pakistanis in the league this time is another snub by India or a choice made by their cricketing board.

An AFP report last month quoted an un-named IPL official as saying the Pakistan Cricket Board didn’t send them the names of any players to include in the January auction. The Pakistan cricketing body couldn’t be reached for comment.

A Reuters report soon after quoted the chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board as saying they wanted to participate in the IPL and they were willing to clear their cricketers to play, but that the players also needed clearance from the Board of the Control for Cricket in India to participate.

A senior executive of the Indian Premier League couldn’t be reached for comment. But a person familiar with the matter on the Indian side said it was seen as difficult to include Pakistani players since several of them are facing an inquiry on match-fixing allegations.

It’s generally a tough time to be a Pakistani cricketer. Last year three top Pakistani cricketers were suspended after a British tabloid reported that they were involved in match-fixing. Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were in Doha , Qatar , on Thursday for a six-day hearing before an anti-corruption tribunal of the International Cricket Council, with a verdict expected next week.

Once again Pakistani players will have to watch as their peers pick up pay checks that cricketers couldn’t even dream of just a handful of years ago. This will be the third year they miss out after they were also sidelined in 2009. That year, the entire IPL tournament was shifted to South Africa because of security concerns since India’s police apparatus was on duty for national elections.

The treatment of Pakistani cricketers at IPL auctions is fueling ill-will in Pakistan , with some online forums describing the country’s cricketers as “banned” in India .

Some Pakistanis don’t think their cricketers should even try to be part of the IPL after last year’s “insult,” as in this Facebook group.

In India, people who criticized the chilly reception to Pakistanis last year came in for flak.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who owns IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, hit the headlines after he expressed disappointment that no Pakistan cricketers were bid on or picked last year, leading the Hindu hardline party Shiv Sena to disrupt Mumbai screenings of his 2010 movie “My Name is Khan.”

Pakistan Players Shut Out of IPL Again - India Real Time - WSJ

Heading is a bit misleading, Correct heading should be, "Pakistani Players not participating in 2011 IPL" or " Pakistani player refrain from IPL 2011" or even better, "Pakistani player don't give sh*t about IPL 2011"

If with 4 years of IPL brought India a 29 run victory, with 4 dropped catches. Pakistan can improve on the fielding a little and now Javed Miandad joining as the batting coach, beating India will not be a very big deal.

Though India got lucky this time:

(01) Lucky to win the toss and bat first
(02) Lucky to make their own pitches and have world cup at home
(03) Lucky with 4 dropped catches with Sachin
(04) Lucky with Sohaib Akhtar being injured.

Though Indian players in 2015 may not be able to able to pull all that luck. And on Australian pitches favouring fast bowlers Pakistan will have plenty to offer.

come on guys, its Indian league, Pakistani players has nothing to do with this league. Non Pakistani interested. If any player invited and sign the contract, that's his own personal benefit.
Its Indian choice to invite or not.

Pakistani players still keep saying that they would "love to play in IPL" and PCB also has said that it would allow them

its alll about money........it will be shameful if they play in IPL even after so much insult........

Dont be such a loser..

people like tanveer and afridi , who just can't thinks anything other then religion , don't deserved to be play in india , i don't think any IPL franchise will take a risk to take them ever...

IPL is a very exciting cricketing event for us and we like it to be this way only ..

Once again I am not surprised of immature comments by some indians and pakistanies. Yes IPL is an indian league and its their choice who to invite. At the same time IPL is not the next big thing in cricket world, Pakistan can come up with loads of surprises when it comes to organizing 20-20 leagues. We already have our own 20 - 20 league in Pakistan which is much older than IPL itself.

Anyways Pakistan does have potential to come up with their own version of cricket league just wait for the outster of Haroon Lorgat and Ijaz but.
