Aggressive regime of import diversification from the NUG has started strong competition between neighbouring countries of AF. This is also hitting Pakistani exports.

ISLAMABAD: The commerce ministry has decided to send a high level delegation comprising officials and businessmen to Afghanistan to address issues that are responsible for Pakistan losing its traditional flour (Atta) export market in Afghanistan.

Tajikistan is providing wheat at $200 per tonne as compared to $360 for Pakistan’s wheat.

Exports may be slow to rise, but imports from Afghanistan to Pakistan are actually quickly and steadily gaining momentum; Not because Pakistan really needs Afghanistan's products, rather it is mainly political. It is the same reason why the US has been Pakistan's largest trading partner for a few decades (dependency for geopolitical gains).

Afghanistan can boycott Pakistani products if they want, but as long as their exports to Pakistan continue to rise, they'll continue to become highly dependent on the Pakistani market. The thing is, the only nation willing to import Afghan products (without a lot of, if any, tax or duty on most Afghan exports, I might add) is Pakistan. It may make Afghanistan more dependent, but Afghans should take advantage of this even further, as it will only help Afghanistan's economic situation. Other bordering nations simply can't compete.

I predict that Pakistan is going to offer Afghanistan further benefits, such as it has in the past, in order to gain back market share.

Best competitive price will survive, rest will be phased out.

When you're using tube wells instead of water storage dams to irrigate your crops, primitive technology and no access to modern storage and preservation technology then costs are of course going to be high.

In the mean time wheat prices will go down in Pakistan so its a good news for Pakistan.

Why tubes, isnt there 4 rivers flowing through the plains of punjab and they are extensively linked to canals.

Thats huge difference. Wonder if Pakistani govt can subsidize wheat export to bring it to regional level ? Unless Pakistani wheat comes at same price as other country is providing, there is little chance of negotiations yielding result.

Afghan government is rising taxes on items imported from Pakistan, decision is backed by India.

I think India have stopped most of the water flowing into Pakistan, only on rain season its water in these historic rivers.
