Pakistan not to take part in disaster risk conference in India
October 28, 2016, 12:35 pm

NEW DELHI, INDIA : As India-Pakistan ties face an uncertain future in the wake of the Uri attack and tension on the borders and in diplomatic relations, Pakistan has decided against sending its representative to the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) to be held here from November 3, said a senior Indian home ministry official.

Diplomatic observers in the Indian capital say that the Pakistani decision is in response to Prime Minister Modi’s refusal to attend the SAARC summit in Islamabad which was ultimately postponed.

Only last week, Pakistan had withdrawn its senior representative from an international event on voter education hosted by the Election Commission of India, and sent a junior official instead.

This is not wise. At such conferences participants to learn how others plan to respond to natural disasters. This helps distinguish relief efforts from potentially threatening military maneuvers.

Pakistan or India might want a military conflict with each other but do their leaders really want one to start by accident?

it's a failure of India's Pakistan isolation policy.
India had a chance to cancel Pakistani invitation. Now suck that.

Blah blah blah

You're a product of Mossad.
You're accusing ME of being "a product of Mossad"? What has happened to the ISI's legendary reputation for intelligence collection?

Pakistanis would do well to recall the effects of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Zardari was angling for intelligence reform before they happened. Afterwards, with the prospect of war with India looming, all such reforms were shelved. And they stayed there, perhaps because Mumbai demonstrated that the ISI through its nurtured proxies has the ability to ignite conflict between India and Pakistan, so what peace there is between them is held hostage to the ISI being left alone.
