Hopefully we get a good leader with capable men and women around him who knows how to make us of it and distribute it among all provinces fairly.

No offense. Pakistan have boasted such discoveries in the past. I think its epic mismanagement on the Pak govt to waste all its resources. They boast bout resources but take no effort to extract them.
Even if they are corrupt, get some money from company and start working on it. Not make the resources idle.

This is not the question of “Boasting”. Most of the discoveries announced earlier are now under production or under development. Problem is the journalistic spin. Simply saying that large deposits have been discovered means nothing. It gives the impression in the mind of naïve public that with additional find, gas shortage will soon be over! The news item failed to mention size of the reserves or expected maximum production capacity.

To put in perspective; currently Qadirpur is the largest gas field in Pakistan it has reserves of 4.2 TCF and production capacity of about 500-million cft per day. Majority of the discoveries of oil & gas in Pakistan are small. Except the Sui, Qadirpur & Mari gas fields, all others are about 1TCF or less.

Pakistan gas shortfall which stands at 200-million cft per day would more than double in 3 years when the Kirthur field comes on stream. Thus if the field produces only 33-million cft per day, additional capacity will hardly make a dent in the short fall.

However in energy starved Pakistan every new commercial discovery no matter how small is welcome news, but no reason for jumping with joy.

if we are not able to make use of it then how is it boasting? discovering and extracting is a completely different thing

sindh already contributes 70% of the gas and sindh indeed has many gas reserves no need boasting

need to know what is the overall potential of this gas reserve - in MCF or BCF or TCF. if its in the TCF potential then its a fairly good find otherwise its a small gas reserve with no national impact.

my estimate would be ~1 TCF so not a major discovery but nevertheless good for PK

All elections inPakistan are full of gas !!.
There in NS gas ,AZgas,AH gas.All for show but of no benefit to the masses.
