Pakistan needs to replace China with Russia

Is it time to replace China with Russia?

No doubt China has given us many technologies and weapon systems but they don't to it for the love of Pakistan rather to confront India.

Even if Pakistan does not buy any weapons from China, they will still consider India as their rival & enemy. So they is no risk of China selling any weapons to India.

On the other hand, Russia had been selling weapons to India for many decades now but this relationship is very weak today thanks to Modi who is anti-Russia. Today, Modi's India is primarily buying weapons from the US.

Hence, Pakistan buying weapons from Russia instead of China would break the Russia-India relationship permanently and we could get advanced weapons systems from Russia.

Not possible. Russia views both Pakistan and Turkey as potential threats to its hegemony. They are historical enemies of ours. Also do not forget they are basically anti-Muslim and want to being back Byzantine empire by taking Istanbul. As for Pakistan, they always cooperate and support India, fearing an Islamic revival from Pakistan sweeping Central Asia and Caucasus.

Pakistan is not a puppet of another country. It is normal for Pakistan to buy Russian weapons. National interests are above all. This does not affect the relationship between Pakistan and China.

Russia is not a historical ally of Muslim countries, but a foe. Czarist Russia was very oppressive to Caucasus, Balkan Muslims and the Soviets were as well.

They have personal vendetta against Pakistan due to the USSR's collapse.

Pakistan is only a potential buyer as a way to pressure India and keep them buying Russian arms. Russians use us to blackmail Indians.

Otherwise our interests and foreign policy is totally opposite.

Our relationship and interests with China are not limited to defence. We will still engage China on CPEC. China can still continue and increase investments in CPEC projects. Building relationship with Russia does not mean we have severed our relationship with China.

Who is "they" and what is "won't"?

I think you should just rename the thread to "Pakistan should increase ties with Moscow" the term ditch does not really make sense

Depends I think USSR mistake was and Pakistan mistake was not forming a coherent and decent ties and I think most Pakistanis arent really concerned about the Balkans,Caucausus maybe Central Asia as land route and some barley cultural connections

The americans are on the side of White Western European Christians. Everybody else are just expendable business partners to them.

More like the Five Eyes and the Anglosphere plus Israel Russia and others are just rivals and Eastern Europe a brothel

No you cannot. Russia would never jeopardize its geopolitical and economic relations with India over a country that it can hardly say it has warm relations with. India has been on Russia's side ever since the Cold War ... relations like these ones that are entrenched economically are very hard to unroot, especially when Pakistan has a far smaller economic stage than India. To choose Pakistan over India and push India to the US sphere of influence would be a disastrous choice for Moscow in terms of geopolitics and its weapons industry.

Indian hardly spends anything on new Russian weapons. Whatever they have been spending are on spares for the weapons that they had already bought in the past. All their new weapons like Apaches, Chinook, P8, MH-60, C-130, C-10, M777, Scorpene, Rafale, Phalcon, Barak, Spike, Heron etc. are all from the US, Israel and France.

If we put enough money to build the relationship, Russia will support us. We need to show seriousness by diverting our funds from China towards Russia.

Only if the Russians recognize Kandahar to be the capital of greater Pakistan.

Why not. I am hopeful that it would happen.

Russia largest buyer is China at the end of the day I think many here have the same "Cold War" mentality" still Russia wants customers and its losing to China and US a lot but would require the building blocks of relations through "stabilising Afghanistan"

Russians are not anti-Islam. They support Iran & Syria. Also, they are selling S-400 to Turkey and building Turkstream pipeline through Turkey. They are also selling us engines for our JF-17s.

Only a sell out will be calling for ditching "A Time-Tested Brotherhood" :pakistan::cheers::china:

And who is taking about ditching?

:pakistan::china:

Stupid idea. Our relationship with China offers much more than just weapons.

Secondly Russia doesn't have a problem selling weapons to anyone who will pay for them.

Also having a relationship with China is no roadblock to having a relationship with Russia.

OP reads like the memoirs of a teenage girl - no offence intended.

Meh, they are kinda are historical and to a extent have had issues with religion but Chinese do have dislike of Muslims too, then again geo-political interests throw all types of ideology out of the window

At the end of the day, It is Pakistan which can give both Russia and China access to the Arabian Sea. We should not under sell our importance.

Again OP really should improve his sense of words I dont see an issue with improving ties with Moscow but at end of the day China is the major juggernaut and reliable partner so no "ditching" lol

The point was only limited to diverting our defence funds towards Russia from China to gain leverage over Russia.
