It's an old traditional English term which means you are arguing from the POV of a completely polar opposite standpoint to the accepted convention.

Cold War 1.0 ended in 1991 and the Soviets left in 1989 past is bloody past lets move on from that there is no permanent "friends" or "brothers" as many Pakistanis think
