Pakistan Navy to Start Construction of 3rd Missile Boat in Karachi

We need to add Air Defence systems in them. If can't than we need to go for at least 4 which Turkey is about to produce they have both Anti Ship and Air Defence systems.

The PN needs not only air defense based on ships, it also needs a couple of aria denial systems, around Karachi and Gawader spread out. There need to be multiple layers of air defense SAMS to ensure proper coverage in case a ship or two go offline or taken out.

I don't understand, the missiles are not that expensive to build. Why don't Pakistan do TOT with China and build a variant in large numbers internally? The more layers of AD you create, the less the room for enemy aircrafts to penetrate and do damage..

you idea is good but theres one problem. money. multi layered systems are going to cost a lot and with tot even, more. i am specticle that Pakistan may get tot for sams as turkey was denied tot for Chinese missiles, these system have very sensitive systems, and Pakistan has no facility to mass produce sams in large numbers, granted they are technically able to build them, but it would be unviable to build multiple systems. something like the hq-9 is a good idea. is missile can be used for air defence and also for vls. this option is more viable

.
or we can get the capability of launching anti air missiles in our subs with missile like IDAS. it wont have have huge range like aaw war ships but it will enable our sub to defend them self against air threats like asw planes and helicopters and it will be huge surprise for them when they will get locked on from no where .
The tech is still evolving. Only testing has been done on single U-212A by Germans. But as the program is still alive so more testing and R&D will be done in future. But one thing is certain, it will take even longer to proliferate.

To do a TOT type of an arrangement with the Chinese, it shouldn't be something Pakistan can't afford. To get TOT similar to the JFT to assemble SAMS in Pakistan, it shouldn't be more than a billion or two, for a sizable force. Then the infrastructure can be setup for future batch production.

These are too small to fit in a DECENT air defense systems. What we need are bigger frigates with better AAW capabilities. The sub are the priority for now and we may see some bigger ships coming in a few years time (i hope and guess it wont be too long)
But my dear friend anti ship missile like C802 also a cruise missile and dimensions very close to Babur. What you say

.
In 560ton class, it is best ship with lot of weapon to carry, but we need some big ships i.e guided missile destroyer
Yes it is, good enough for our requirment.

As for guided missile destroyers, PN is not really intrested in VERY heavy platforms, the seem reluctant to out a lot of money in single platform and rather will chose to use the same money to get two medium weight platforms in place off one heavier one. This also is a sensible approach. So while i do not see PN going for heavier guided missile destroyers, heavier frigates in 4200 to 4800 ton classification with better AAW are highly probable. Currently the focus is on getting the submarines and the frigates project will follow soon. 6 - 8 heavier frigates with better AAW capabilities (like Type 54A with HHQ-16 SAM/improved longer range SAM) will give the much needed air defense capability and working in tandem with other ASW frigates it will work nicely for us.

That is an option but surely is not a replacement for surface vessels with better longer range AAW capabilities. The submarine launched air defense missiles are essentially point defense system and with the range of submarine detection equipment on board helicopter of ASW planes increasing along with longer range torpedo rockets, these small range SAM are not much help anymore. This is one of the main reason that we do no see them equipping a large number/types of submarines.

Well as far as dimension/weight is concerned, yes they are almost similar but i really do not think these boats can carry Babur missiles. Perhaps for the reason of lack of monitoring/tracking equipment, radar something, i don't know. That just do not seems real. Maybe some one else can shed some light on the technical details.

i like how you say its a billion or two. that billion or two would come from a soft loan. the hq9- and its variants is the best option.
the fd-2000 is an export variant of the hq-9

Pakistan's state-owned Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) Limited has launched the country's third Azmat-class missile-capable patrol craft, the company announced on 12 August.

The 63 m vessel was launched on 11 August in a ceremony presided over by the navy's vice chief of staff, Vice Admiral Hasham Bin Saddique.

In 2010, Pakistan signed a government-to-government agreement with China for two Azmat-class vessels. As reported by IHS Jane's in April 2012, under the contract terms the second hull, PNS Deshat (1014), would be built at KSEW's facility in Karachi with China's co-operation under a technology transfer arrangement. Deals for boats three and four were signed in June 2013 and June 2014 respectively, with construction to take place in Karachi supported by Chinese collaboration.

According to IHS Jane's Fighting Ships , the Azmat class is armed with eight (two quad) launchers, mounted athwartships, for the 180 km range C-802A surface-to-surface missile. The ships also carry a twin 37 mm gun mounting forward, and a stern-facing Type 630 30 mm close-in weapon system for protection against incoming threats. Point defence is also provided by two 12.7 mm machine guns.

The weapons fit is complemented by a Type 347G radar and electro-optical fire director and a Type 360 surveillance radar.

Powered by four diesel engines, the platform has a top speed of 30 kt and a standard range of 1,000 n miles.

4 more missile boats are coming as contract was signed btw pakistan and china.(type 22 )
They are good for coastal defense. In coming years PN will have a excellent defensive capabilities
I think a total of 6 Type022 are from China to guard the Balochistan coast better. Tell how many AZMAT are planned for Sindh Coast.

Bhai.
Tu itna shor marney kay bajae PN kay liyay chanda jama kar aur phir jo teri marzi aey wo khareed lay. Rest assured all of us understand your enthusiasm for ensuring the PN gets the best equipment possible but this is not going to happen. Or either entice uncle Zardari or Uncle Nawaz to give a couple of billion dollars to AF & PN each and then you can be made incharge of procurement. The only proviso is that the people when they are hungry because the country has gone bankrupt and they want some meat you go and answer them.

@araz I am sorry for all that. But I don't know the actual thing at all. Just writing the comments on the basis of the information being shared on this and other posts regarding the 6 FACs coming from China. I don't know actual facts regarding Bankruptcy. Hopefully, you will brake the real news. I think last time I heard Pakistan has $70+ Billions of loan and also adding more on daily basis as interest. :pakistan:
