What's new

Pakistan Navy has only 3 submarines operational at a time: Top Indian Navy officer

yes pakistan lacks submarines right now but we will receive chinese submarines starting from 2022.pakistan already developed sea launched version of baber.pakistan is developing missiles based on best technology.it is possible that pakistan will make more dangerous missiles which we can launch from sea.pakistan navy is working fine and it will continue to arm itself with deadly missiles.

.
Anyone can guess right one sub under upgrade with Turks total 5 subs with pn that leaves 4 so a guess 3 out of 4 are available and another on port servicing :D

Not counting the mini subs

.
I remember reading that submarines are more maintenance intensive than ships on surface.

True, you can see it by simply visiting the dock as two third of your kilo fleet is there lined up for maintenance all year long, IF they didn't end up in an accident by then.

Actually as per latest CAG report at least 5 our of our 9 Kilos are available in addition to 3 out of our 4 Type209/1500.
And 1 Scorpene (plus two more fully completed Scorpene UN advanced sea trials).
Last week Russia completed INS Chakra sonar dome fixing make it fully operational.

So we have 10 submarines which means we dominate Pakistan in submarines 3:1.

Yes PN has 3 operational subs at any given time to 6 of India.. not a big deal. By 2028 India navy will have less than 20 subs to 11 of PN. Big deal....

Firstly, a submarine on sea trials is NOT ready for induction. It is a tedious and time consuming especially when the technology is new. AIPs are new to India hence the induction will take longer. In PN's case, it took almost a year.

Both Agosta 70s are upgraded with SUBTICS CMS and are lurking somewhere in the Arabian sea. Total 5 submarines are in operation. Add midget subs are the undersea fleet goes higher.

even excluding the ones in sea trials we still have 10 operational at any given time.

Agosta 70s are nearly 40 years old and obviously suffer from low servicabilty rate whic only one is available at given time.

Prove your claim that only one is available at a given time as my sources state otherwise.

Also, three X-craft MG-110 midget subs are there too. These are virtually undetectable by sonars and radars and can launch torpedoes or commando operations. Can reach 1100NM on diesel engine.

Their age is pretty good proof of low servicabilty.
Even brand new subs have a servicabilty rate of 70% though Japans new Soryus have nearly 75% rate, so even 50% for nearky 40 year old subs is quite optimistic.

Midget submarines are of little strategic value.
They do not even have on-board sonars or missiles.

That's it, you know little to nothing about midgets. These small subs can wreak havoc on any opposing force if not dealt with properly. After all, there is a reason why we are discussing co-development of nrxt gen midgets with Turkey's STM.

This is what an undected midget can do:

On a side note, a PN midget sub almost drowned the INS Kirpan as it launched the torpedo that malfunctioned, the one that was accompanying the unfortunate Kukri. Otherwise, it would have been a double kill for PN.

Midget subs are good for tactical operations but their strategic value during a war is little. Also cheonans sonars were switched off as per ROK probe.
Pakistan SX-404 were beset with problems.
One sunk in port leading to loss of entire crew.

Anyways the discussion here is about standard submarines and not midget and how India dominates Pakistan 3:1 in submarine fleet.

No it doesnt, perhaps in your dreams but the reality shows a different story.

Better do some research on the state of your navy's sorry submarine affairs and check the tragic fate of Arihant, Chakra, Sindhudarshak, Dunagiri, and Vindyagiri.
