Compared to the FRENCH designed Formidable class, the main difference is not in: 76mm main gun, 2x4 SSM, lightweight ASW torpedotubes, ASW helicopter. Rather it is in the CIWS and SAM fit and associated sensors. The Formidable has a superior fit of SAMs (4x8 Aster-15/30) / Herakles radar, compared to the Hq7/Fm90 8 ready + ? reloads. Then again, the F22P has a better CIWS fit with 2 30mm gatling mounts versus 2 single 25mm in Formidable. While arguable among the most modern in Asia, the Formidable is also about twice as expensive as the F22P. Which is a more sensible deal for a cash strapped navy facing block obsolescence of its major surface combattants: 4 F22P (incl. helicopters) or 2 Formidable (excl. helicopters)?

only looks neat. nothing more than that. should take a look at what singapore puts in 3000tons(formidable class frigate).

What sort of weapons, radars, air defense systems it has?

Just released, possible improved F-22P frigate from one of the most reputable Chinese military magazine NAVAL&MERCHANTSHIPS. HD quality picture will be released soon.

Ah, that's C28A? The ship type for which 3 were ordered and being build for Algeria? Another incremental improvement (path: Jiangwei II to F22P to C28A)

Algeria has signed a contract with China Shipbuilding Trading Company for three light frigates, after ordering two Meko A-200N frigates from Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.

The three light frigates will be built either at Guangzhou or the Shanghai Huangpu Shipyard. The vessels will displace around 2 800 tons fully loaded, and will be powered by MTU diesel engines.

whats the improvement sir? from the pic it looks like it has the same SAM..... we were hearing that the follow on class will have improved AD.... possibly VLS.... and PN should also look to integrate things from under development Type 054B class as well.

DIfferent main sensors, for starters. A hull with more stealth features. Did I point out this supposedly is the ship as built for Algeria, NOT a version for Pakistan?

When PN next 7 OHPs are arriving. I think PN needs to sell out the 4 F-22Ps to Yemen along with 3 Agosta-90Bs to them.

PN should concentrate more on these OHPs and also ask an upgrade plan for 8OHPs and also they should acquire more from Muslim countries like Bahrain and else where to have a total fleet of 12-14 OHPs upgraded along with 8++ Chinese Submarines.

I don't think that would contribute to solving the PN's problem of block obsolescense: PN not only needs more hulls but also new(er) ones. Selling the Agosta's would be selling the crown jewels.

Their were reports that we would have better version of F-22 and some were calling that F-23
Exactly. But there is no actual design or project with Pakistan or China by that name.
