There is no such thing as Torpedo "Lock".
There is a torpedo launched and that is that. It goes active and then you are dead.
As for any sort of lock, the only time the enemy sub knows that it is being hunted is when it hears torpedo doors opening or if an active sonar ping is sent either as a deterrence measure or for accurate range.

Regardless, this was a missed opportunity for the Pakistani Navy. Remember the Atlantique incident? The Indians did not shy away from going for the kill even in very murky areas. They did so under similar circumstances when tensions were high. If this submarine was in Pakistani waters and it went back in one piece, then that's a mighty missed opportunity.

That is because they tend to have a greater buffer in their armed forces that we do. Essentially, there is little wish or want from Pakistan to escalate beyond the proxy battles as it undermines our own safety level. We will take a drubbing in anything beyond minor skirmishes so caution is taken to an extreme level in anything beyond assisting a mix of youth from AK or Punjab to go and wage asymmetric warfare.
