By virtue of this video it seems that the Mistral was used (0:10) in comparison with the Chinese missiles! Also if you watch carefully, the PN Marine almost drops the tube (0:30) after the Chinese missile is launched!!

Admiral Noman Bashir's priority is to jack up the Air Defense System capabilities of the PN especially around the vulnerable Karachi Harbor and hence these missiles and the upcoming Chinese AD guns are an integral part of that program.

Which Chinese AD guns are on the way ??

But what PN has to do with a shoulder mounted Missile? Arent they supposed to carry ship based larger Missiles with more punch and Range all the way up to the stratosphere?
Pakistan has enough defenses for low flying Aircraft..But now aircraft don't come down and Drop Guided bombs from altitude..What defenses Pakistan got against such attacks?

They were marines who have a little different role. They don't have to fight while in frigates or subs. They very well need those.

Hi, this shoulder fired SAM, while really nice, can only really be used for in-close targets like helicopters or planes. How is this going to stop a volley of Brahmos missiles? Pakistan urgently needs to get Type 054A frigates with long range VLS (vertically launched system) SAMs, or not have a surface fleet at all. Take care.

This is a good achievement by Pakistan Navy. PN should continue to enhance the SAM inventory that could sustain an extended conflict. Integration of sea based and land based assests also needs to be implemented on a priority basis.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy successfully tested its air defence capability on Monday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir witnessed the live surface-to-air missile (SAM) firing along with Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar, the air defence commander of Pakistan Navy. All the missiles fired successfully acquired the targets, said a Pakistan Navy (PN) press release. It said that a combination of SAM series were tested, which gave the Pakistan Navy the flexibility to operate with a range of missiles and strengthen the ground-based air defence. app
