Pakistan must not be used for terror, Singh tells Zardari

I think it is time this canard of 'employment of terrorism as an extension of state policy' was dropped by Indians, given how it applies to India just as well.

There is a legitimate argument, that MMS made, that Pakistan must act to prevent terrorism from its soil. Pakistan has accepted that the Mumbai attacks were organized and executed partially from its soil, and the GoP has recognized the necessity of doing whatever it can to prevent something like that happening again.

Here then there is common ground that many Pakistanis and Indians can agree upon, without the blame game and back and forth over 'whose terrorism was worse'.

I think there might even be hope for friendship & peace again we both need it and must do it at all cost all this bloodshed is enough we are gaining nothing out of it but pain in return i wish both nations best of luck in this matter as per Pak being used for terror attacks we are doing watever we can i mean look wat we are facing in our own backyard wats done is done we must look ahead i think its time for both nations to work together they both have had there hands dirty for blaming each other for different issues and agendas and will never stop until there is peace in our region so i pray and hope all this bull will stop soon we get rid of these terrorist bastards.

The LTTE has a uniform so they must also not be terrorist.:cheesy:

They were not, until they send suicide bombers and targeted civilians.A bunch of other Tamil groups are still not classified terrorists.

Sedition or separatism are serious (and in come countries Capital) offenses, but let us not confuse that with terrorism.

India was the first country to classify them as terrorist (after the suicide attack and assassination of Rajiv Gandhi). Sri Lanka classified them terrorist for about 4 years and then dropped the condition. What really did them in was when EU and UK classified them terrorist (sometime in 2002) and cut off their funding.

It's funny because India also thinks China is behind the Maoist insurgents but Indian never assert accusation or public charges against China for it's apparent Maoist insurgent attacks, kidnappings, strikes within India?

No India never does and probably never will.

One of the users said India has the support of many other nations in it's charge against Pakistan, that Pakistan is being used to launch terrorist attacks within India...Well those same countries have a considerable influence of the Indian lobby, and those same countries misunderstand Pakistan's role and what Pakistan is really facing.

Indian consulates in Afghanistan are facilitating and supporting terrorist and separatist to attack Pakistan. Afghanistan, China, and even Iran know this is happening and their intelligence services are aware of this terrorist game India is adept at.

Our own intelligence agency have confirmed this to be true. There is no denying India and it's RAW are terrorist supporters.

Same goes for Bangladesh. We think they are supporting terrorists in our North East, but we hardly treat them on par with Pakistan. The state support from Pakistan to Jihadi outfits & its machinations specifically aimed at weakening India on various fronts do not have a parallel in China or Bangladesh.

Our own intelligence agency have confirmed this to be true. There is no denying India and it's RAW are terrorist supporters.

And exactly that is why nobody outside Pakistan & Bangladesh has fallen for that canard. Your own intelligence agency has made a fool out of you to divert public attention to 'Indian Boogyman' to cover up their own failures in curbing terrorism (read tacit support) on your Western borders. Where is Rehman Malik's evidence that India is supporting separatists in Balochistan? Where is Gilani's evidence that Pakistani agencies were working on?

Pakistan sought time to act against militants - India

NEW DELHI, July 17 (Reuters) - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Wednesday that Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had sought more time to act against anti-India militants because Islamabad's fight with the Taliban had entered a crucial phase.

"He did mention to me the difficulties Pakistan is facing in controlling terrorism and asked us to bear with him, to give him some more time," Singh told reporters on his way back from Russia's Yekaterinburg, where the two leaders met on Tuesday.

Singh's comments came a day after he urged Zardari to ensure Pakistan was not used to launch attacks on India.

Their meeting, the first since last year's attacks on Mumbai, marked a tentative thaw in relations but stopped well short of reopening a peace process that India had put on hold after the Mumbai assault.

India blames Pakistan-based anti-India groups for attacking Indian cities and named the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group as responsible for the attack on Mumbai which killed 166 people.

Pakistan says it is investigating the Mumbai attacks, even while it struggles to push back a growing Taliban insurgency.

Security forces have made progress in more than a month of fighting against militants in Swat. The militants have responded with a string of bombs in towns and cities.

Pakistani military has been ordered to go on the offensive against Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud in his stronghold in South Waziristan on the Afghan border.

"I explained to him that whereas now Pakistan has taken effective action against the Taliban and al-Qaeda, we have a strong feeling that those elements who are active in perpetrating terrorist acts in our country ... (are) not being brought to justice," Singh said.

He said India would not close channels of communication with Pakistan and would continue to try to make peace with it.

"We have often said we can choose our friends, we have to live with our neighbours, and therefore, it is obligatory on us not to close channels of communication," Singh said.

Singh's comments hold out prospects of more talks between officials of the two countries and their leaderships.

An Indian official told Reuters on Tuesday Singh and Zardari would meet in July in Egypt, which is hosting the Non-Aligned Movement summit.

intelligence inputs cant get international opinion on your side.please point out an incident....or some raw agent caught functioning from afghanistani Indian consulate.Up until the taliban started swarming swat...most of the pakstani memebers were blaming india for the terrorist bombings.

Again Zaradari is only good for local politics, international politics is beyond is reach...I would love to watch if Singh ji say same statement to Mushy and response would be huge ***** slap (pardon my lingo). But look like Mr Singh has no idea about the past and present adventures of Indian army. Singh has feeling last many years Indian agencies are sending flowers to Pakistan.

this guy is continuing to make an *** of himself and of our country  how the hell did the people vote for this idiot :flame: feudalistic pricks...

First of all it is all quoted by the Indian media so I will look for sources which are not bias ... secondly, even if this is entirely true then it could have been arranged for public consumption at home ...

There is a set of protocols designed before such meetings and it could have been a request from the Indian side to allow MM Singh to make such statement ...

This is nothing of importance as leadership from both sides have made such comments many a time ...

What an embarrassing tone used, thanks to our president. Wonder what did he screw up this time?:tsk:

very rude but very well planned by Mr Singh and team.
this is not the way of diplomacy. if indians think that by making such public scenes will solve the issue?
they r mistaken. this will further spoil the air.
Mr Zardari has already decided not to attend NAM meeting.
Also u will more strong statements from GOP regards indian aspect in FATA. The previously somewhat quite statements may stop and real proof (if present) may be brought to the media.
so no net gain but loss for all of us.

Zardari is the result of blind rush towards democracy. He can try all he wants to, but he is not a statesman and never will be one. Gone are the days of Musharraf taking the initiative. Now its only talking down that Pakistan will receive everywhere Zardari goes.

Its just amazing to see the day/night difference between Musharraf's extremely well versed and informed statements and Zardari's idiotic rants.

While one cannot blame Singh for playing his game right and speaking what is important to him, our useless President does not know his head from his xxx. Lets get used to that.
