What's new

Pakistan must manufacture it's own heli

Helis are tremendously helpful in modern warfare, transport helicopters are necessary to quickly move troops to dynamic border skirmishes that break out in different areas and attack helis can decimate any tank force if used properly and in sufficient numbers. Helicopters are vulnerable, but that doesnt mean they are any less important.
On the other hand, i still believe we dont have anywhere near the demand necessary to justify having a completely indigenous production capability of helis, a joint venture is the logical solution, but nothing more.

First time I am hearing someone saying Helicopters are not important in large scale conflict.

this is because u have never seen the helis in actual conflict.
i have never said that these machines r useless but a good strike air craft with day/night precision attack capability is of far greater help then a low flying slow speed less agile mosquito

Helicopters can land and take off almost anywhere and everywhere, they can hover and wait for the enemy to show up, their on-station time is more, they can give very good CAS which fixed wing aircrafts cant. They can carry and insert troops wherever they want.. Aircrafts cant do everything that choppers can. Fighter aircrafts are glamourous and stuff but helicopter do the job that is down and dirty. Why do you think every country has an helicopter fleet? It is versatility.

Every man made system can be brought down.....nothing is invincible.

i think pakistan should obtain some transfer of tech and local production of some helis, and eventually, after gaining some experience,yu can make helis at home.
or else
go for some joint venture

i m only in the favour or prioritizing our needs keeping in view the availability of funds.
if u have lot of funds go for heli manufacturing then go for it but if u dont have them then see what is ur prime requirement in the given situation n then work on it.
i remember an incident when talibans had a 14.7 n which didnt allow cobra to come nearer until the area was bombed by the F-16 n the 14.7 was destroyed.only then cobra went ahead to help the ground forces.against well equipped enemy there will be many anti air craft weapons ,shoulder mounted sams n the heli will be in difficult situation.once the enemy is neutralized only then u can use helis for transport, evacuating the injured etc

Well remember the Taliban and the Russian Mi 35? It took them out with heavy rockets. That is what they do. If a weapon is developed then a neuter is also developed....'Necessityy is the mother of invention' and the Stinger was brought into picture.

On 26 November 2008, the Canadian Forces issued a statement announcing that 8 Griffons would be modified to act as armed escorts for CH-147 Chinook helicopters in Afghanistan.[11] Equipped with a M134D mini gun, the helicopters are employed in a defensive and support role, including the evacuation of battlefield casualties.
The Bell CH-146 Griffon is the Canadian military variant of the Bell 412 which pa operates

Govt. should act now to dedicate professionals, engineers, R&D, Armed Forces to collaborate for the development(helicopters)

but I dont knw when our govt will learn to stand on their own feet in tech development.....:what:

PAK will only go for Manufacturing Helos, only and only when PAK stop getting choppers from US.
