Pakistan Mulls NATO Offer to Ship Afghan Supplies Through Gwadar Port

“NATO people told us it would be extremely convenient for them in terms of quick transportation of supplies from Gwadar directly to Kandahar. They are very interested and we are working on it,” Bizenjo told VOA in an interview.

Was NATO sleeping all those years? Didn't they knew before that Gwadar is more near to Qandhar, than port Qasim!?

Besides Pak political and military leadership has been bought out by Saudi's. And Saudi's are US poodles. Theefore I can't see Pak leadership crapping on two tiers of overlordship anytime soon. Posturing yes. Real substance no.

@Chinese-Dragon

Brutal truth indeed. I been arguing only a Turkish style cleansing would be a cure.

This new route proposal that Pakistan is considering, will allow US to exploit the logistical channel for propping Baluchistan terrorist and orchestrate unrest. If Pakistan (policy makers bought out as you mentioned) and China (for few dollars) do not see through the plan, they will count the crippling loss later.

Remember, a map was shown with independent Baluchistan... What they want is to dismantle Pakistan as a State, a Nation.

If the Chinese okay it I think everything will be fine. They have invested nearlly $55 Billion - that is enough bond for them to make sure nothing untoward happens.

The answer should be no.

We should not allow any NATO transit through Gwadar or anywhere in Pakistan.

Bro Care to explain the reason if they willing to pay transit fees ?

I feel opposite, there dependence on Balochistan might bring the insurgency down in Balochistan! And they won't be against Gwadar like India is once they start using it.

This is the most stupid comment i have seen in a while..
How much NATO supplies have helped Karachi in getting stabilized since 2002?

Gwadar has only become functional lately ~ in particular the road linking it to Quetta is just about completed or about to be completed. That is the decisive factor.

I think the decisive factor is MQM loosing grip of port Qasim.
Gawadar was operational enough to unload non commercial ships.
Road was also completed year or two ago.

Have Americans/Saudis in Baluchistan and Iranians will have an excuse to have Indians on their side of the border..A perfect recipe of disaster for OBOR Pakistan chapter. This news is a knee jerk reaction by US to counter the recent Chinese Naval base gossip.

Pakistan should respond to this news with a Categorical 'NO' before shit starts to hit the fan.

Fraught with dangers even though there are pros and cons.

NATO and specially US will get a foothold on Gwadar, right at the mouth of Chahbahar Iran, Iran will also oppose it.

The pros for Pakistan seems to be CPEC and Gwadar will get more importance for US and hence more legitimacy and approval ratings from US. A supply route from Gwadar will make that happen but entails lots of clear and present dangers.

The cons are again the malafide intents and interests of US vis-a-vis Balochistan, not manifested clearly and is hidden, espionage and spying network starting is not far fetched, Kulbashan J is a case in point.

The US once embedded in Gwadar will run the risk of China having problems with their greater expansion plans about the Gwadar port, a naval base here or nearby, blue water navy and the CPEC as a whole having left open to the US, NATO is a lesser entity here, it is about US.
