Pakistan: More to offer than bombs and beards

Well, my question was a lot more specific than favourable/unfavourable ratings. For example, Israel and North Korea have two of highest unfavourable ratings in the world, but you wouldn't draw the implication of bombs and beards I would imagine.

North Koreans are actually quite clean shaven.

Beards=Islamism and Islamiphobia..which is not quite off the mark. It is an Islamic country and honestly this is not really a negative.
Bombs=Terrorism..given the recent events of Laden, Haqqani network, The US-Pakistan spat (which led to a desperate PR move of giving an AD in the US by the Pakistani Army). The world looks at BBC, CNN, Reuters for news. Even local channels get their feed from them. They reflect news from the perspective of the US,UK and the western world in general. Only Asia and the Middle East would have a coverage that would reflect a different side. One of them happens to be Al Jazeera which posted this article.
From what I've seen the coverage of Pakistan in the western media (and subsequently the relayed feed to other nations) is restricted to Terrorist/military operations and Islamic terrorist groups working there.
If I'm wrong in my assertions, I'd be happy to hear your side and retract the statements.

Alright, I can sort of see the connections you are trying to make. I just thought that "bombs and beards" was an unnecesesary exaggeration, and I doubt there are any actual surveys that ask that question anyway.

I read the Western media even more than I read local Hong Kong media (it is better for international financial news)... but I must say that the image I have of Pakistan has very little to do with that bombs and beards image.

And no, the Chinese government does not censor anything in Hong Kong. Our media is actually ranked the 2nd most free in Asia, just behind Japan.

. .
The list of challenges it faces is seemingly unending: terrorism, corruption, drone attacks, natural disasters, poverty, a deficit in leadership, discrimination against minorities, mistreatment of women, attacks on freedom of speech, mass tax evasion, match fixing, the murder of judges, politicians, union organisers and journalists - and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

And how many alligations in those are true...may be some of them or one or two.....but that' dosent' reflect the whole country or nation......
1- Terrorism....we didn't started this war..it is impose on us due to favor of others.
2 - Corruption........India has more corrupt politicans than Pakistan and nobody speaks about them.
3 - Drone attacks again imposed on us and they are killing more innocents rather terrorists and who are left saved due to those attacks are becoming suiciders due to revenge.
4 -Poverty...India has more poors than Pakistan..but nobody speaks about them.
5 - In countries like India....match fixing and gambling is now legal (i.e. IPL) so why Pakistan.
6 -Discrimination against minorities.......everybody knows in India what's going on with minories....examples are Babri Mosque, Gujjrat and Kashmir issues .....In mostly areas muslims can't cut cows in India....rest also there is long list.
7-Mistreatment of women.........in India still there are some places where womens are buried with husband if her husband died.
And this list..............goes on......

Joke of the day

why Pakistan always wanted to compare with India ??

Beard is part of Islam so nothing wrong with that and as far as bomb blasts are concerts even before these started many people in west thought Pakistanis live in caves

Firstly..I never intended to make a comment on the Chinese media censorship :D. When I referred to Asia having a different perspective I meant people who read both local and western Media.

Secondly, Like I said not everyone has the interest or the knowledge about world affairs like a lot of people in here or in Asia in general do. And the article headline may seem like an exaggeration, but it serves it's purpose, attracts eyeballs and makes people read.
You and I are well read and informed, and even then our opinion about certain affairs would be as different as chalk and cheese. For people who just glance headlines (and there are a lot of those guys), the following stands true.
1.China: Commies who steal all manufacturing jobs. But make good take out food, lots of people, nuclear weapons
2.India: Call Centres, Steal all jobs, Roads with beggars and cows, lots of people
3.Pakistan: Bombs and Beards :P

For 'Chinese Dragon' to complain on strawman argument he is sticking to the same himself to counter it. How ironic? He got tingly feeling when he saw the article and he couldn't resist but divert the topic on to India. Chinese and Pakistanis accusing us on our discrimination against minorities is priceless. As if their saying is worth anything. Rather be counter productive.

Anyways, to prove their point all they have to do is ask Indian minorities on this forum, how they feel about India? They would get their answer loud and clear.

And guys, over the year 'Chinese Dragon' had become a serious troll. Take it from me, don't waste your time arguing with him. He'll probably prove his point with some index if you push him.

I can counter each of those points as an Indian. But I find it amusing that instead of countering the claims in the article, you decided to malign India along. I pity that with this attitude your country would go any further. In not too distant future, you may not have the opportunity to sling mud at India for your misfortune.

.
these type of issues present in every country ... so the purpose of only highlighting Pakistan is to destroy the good image of Pakistan on international level ..
i can give you list of countries in which terrorism is more than Pakistan
corruption is present in every 2nd country
drone attacks are carried out in other countries too
poverty is also an issue of every 2nd country
minorities are discriminated more in many other countries
these are not issues that present only in Pakistan stop bashing Pakistan
Indeed we have to solve our problems but only pointing out Pakistan and left all other countries is totally a discrimination against Pakistan

.
so whats wrong with a beard?

Provocative article posted by an Indian member.

Preposterous comment by CD and extremely cheap attemp to incite hatred. My very purpose of sharing this article was to share something positive beyond the usual LeT, Taliban, intolerance, extrimism that seems to be all that the whole world gets to hear about Pakistan.

It talks about a youth revolution In Pakistan which has nothing to do with India or demeaning Pakistan.

You're slightly less sharp than the Chinese I usually work with. :)

OK, now we're getting somewhere.

Please provide me a source to support the assertion you made above. :azn:

World=America :P

There's no empirical proof, it might be part of majority of Muslims - but it's no way part of Islam as it's nowhere in the Qur'an

1. Why are you posting off topic??????, India is not the topic of this thread.

2. Is the only reason for ur survival is India????? Because ur justifying every gloom in pakistan because in your opinion India also have some.:rofl:

take a break

Except that anyone with half a brain knows that Pakistan offers a lot more than bombs and beards in the first place, take a look at their export list for starters.

Okay , go and ask any neutral person as to what's the first thing that comes to mind when he/she hears the word "Pakistan".

Go ahead , give it a try.

Perception and image portrayed for a country is very important , it cannot be bribed / made out of thin air ....

Positives and negatives are there in every country , currently Pakistan has more of the latter , times will change and hopefully so will the perception.
