What's new

Pakistan may study other fighter options as US asks Pakistan to make full payment for F-16 purchase

Bhai you use F-16 so what is this rule that we will never go for another Aircraft ? sooner or later we have to chose another fighter, or you want PAF to stick with F-shola till eternity ?
U already have invested everything in Thunder. Give PAF the money and they would gladly go for any other platform. F-16s being already operational, when land, become operational that very moment. No extra costs are incurred. But with new systems U have to invest alot in training, infrastructure, maintenance and not to forget time incurred in all this process. Also time is a luxury which we really do not have much right now. Till Thunder Block III comes online, its F-16 doing the main work.

every senior Member here has said time to time that if PAF wants to add another Platform Finance is not a issue , even @Oscar said it in other thread ..
now we were crying about PN and their funding but look the stuff they are buying , 8 Subs , FAC , 4 Frigates , Zrb Missile system , and patrol ships ..

Well if we charge for the trade going to Afghanistan we can make 700 million quickly

No, it's a threat. This is how US will perceive it and, not to mention, a serious escalation that will have other consequences.

well last time checked we did it before ... when Salala Incident happen , its our land and we can stop US shipment to pass through our routes .. and US can't do Sh!t about it like in Past ..
its called Business , and if Pakistan feel that US and India is siding Pakistan in the corner , than we will be forced to block the routes for US forces in Afghanistan , say bye bye to Afghan peace process and Talks with Taliban , which will lead US to utter humiliation when they leave Afghanistan ..

it's also not a difficult one
Either Pay 700 million Dollars for 8 jets or add new one in couple of Billion

Hahaha ok F-16 MLU which is (equal to block 50) is inferior to Super hypa powa LCA 5 gen ++++++ and is equal to F-22 raptor ok Happy

how dare you to say bad about supa dupa daddy of Raptor - Mighty LCA ???? LCA means ? kudhe nikaal lay punjabi wich 3 fit galyaan banti hain hahahahhahah

We knew in our hearts this day will come when American will betray us!

Pakistani people are fooled with their JF-17, your air force is still trying to acquire F-16's, but you still think your Jf-17 is *even* a match for it? it doesn't even compare to the F-16, they're not of the same class, JF-17 should compared with India's LCA or Taiwan's IDF. Your air force prefers the F-16 and considers it the high-tech component of their inventory, JF-17 is the medium-tech component.

U have to remember that there are more then one reason that pakistan want acquire F-16
1)Pakistan have lot of old planes like F-7's they have to be replace very soon
2)JF-17 are being produce but they cannot fill the gap in time
3)JF-17 block 1 and 2 are comparable to F-16A block 3 will to F-16C or 50/52 in term of work
4)F-16 is medium weight fighter JF-17 is a light weight fighter F-16 can carry way much load then JF-17 that is the main reason of F-16 it is a bigger can carry more load and have more flue that means it can go deep into enemy territory
JF-17 is a light weight fighter because of that it is it always will have some limitations

Su-35s is better then SU-30 MKI other wise India will not be upgrading it's SU-30 to super flanker Su-35 is better body wise more composite martial in the body better avionic better and more powerful radar just these little fixes make it a new and better aircraft

The Yankees are squeezing Pakistan for more money and at the same time pleasing their new friend India. But I doubt Yankees would like to loose a customer. They will come round somehow.

Means absolutely positively nothing as this bird will be sanctioned the day war start and without spare parts this is just giant piece of aluminum sitting on tarmac.

Yeah what will happen, please, explain. You didn't finish the 700 million dollars threat.

Fortunately, idiots like us, have access to Genius and obvious forward thinker like you, who is born with experience to do everything, us the idiots, have to do it the old fashioned way and learn by trying and get experience doing so.

I take it, when we got these birds for the first time our pilots had years of experience flying them, right, the infrastructure was in place, so didn't have any issue assimilating them, otherwise it would have been stupid to get them.

Chinese, Indians and other respected nations investing billions to move forward are stupid they should stick with what they know and settle.

Bird will be sanctioned in case of war don't you tell me you also believe in the kill switch theory , loads of countries will be selling older blocks of falcon in few years turkey is also there only problem will be upgrading to block50+ which no matter what uncle Sam will try to keep Pakistan In loop

My threat do me a favour and just check prices of 4++ generation birds please do tell me how many squadrons will Pakistan get in 700 million 4 ,5 or 10 since we will get so many birds just in 700 million we should advise India to why are they spending 7billion plus just for 24 birds

You are forgetting one thing those birds , training and infrastructure were from uncle Sams pocket , to counter ussr
China ,India and other nations can support and put billions while Pakistan now isn't in condition to buy just few f16 by paying total sum

For Jet alone or Ammunition it depends upon many things ,but to give you idea there was news back a month that Pak has ordered 6 SU35 for 500 Mil US$ .For Typhon it is priced near to Rafale so you can imagine recent deals are concluded around 8-10 Billion US$ for 36 jets
So SU-35 may be possible..if proper diplomacy is done, but Typhoon seems way out of reach.

Sartaj Aziz is just goofing 80 yrs old man .Imagine Pak dont have money to pay these jets and we asking Yanks to help us how we gonna buy other jets ?

The Yankees are squeezing Pakistan for more money and at the same time pleasing their new friend India. But I doubt Yankees would like to loose a customer. They will come round somehow.
LM paid already paid to sub venders from theior pockets for these planes .this deal will go through 200% .

Didn't I write earlier, Pakistanis are a bunch of idiots. First you tell them we don't have the money to buy F16's, then you caution them that we will buy from somewhere else. LOL... at least learn to say it in Pakistani style, BC danay hein to mufat do warna maan Ch**ao

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conveyed to the United States that it does not have the money to buy F-16 jets from its resources and has cautioned that if the stalemate over funding is not resolved it may consider buying some other fighter aircraft to meet its needs.

According to a diplomatic source, this was conveyed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to US Ambassador David Hale at a meeting at the Foreign Office.

The meeting was held last week before the controversy of procuring the F-16s became public.

Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, PAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.

Initially, the deal for the sale of eight F-16s to Pakistan was to be partially funded through the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) with the US providing $430 million, while the remaining $270m was to be paid by Pakistan from its national resources. But after the Congressional hold on subsidising the sale through FMF, the US administration asked Pakistan to make a commitment to buy the jets from its own money.

But the Pakistan government refused to make any pledge unless the restriction on financing through FMF was lifted.

There is a perception in some quarters that the government made a mistake by refusing to make the commitment for the purchase of the fighter aircraft because doing so would not have precluded the option of financing through FMF in future.

The Pakistani commitment, it is believed, would have eased Congressional pressure on the administration, besides allowing the process for approval and appropriation of the entire FMF package to move forward. The process is being currently held back because of the very intense debate on the financing of the F-16 deal.

In view of the lingering impasse, the administration has now started emphasising on the Congress to focus on the package instead of getting stuck with one of its elements.

The FMF money for this year has to be approved and appropriated before September 30 or else the funds would remain no more available.

Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, in a media interaction on Tuesday, said Pakistan was working with the “suppliers to see what could be alternative sources of financing”.

Mr Aziz said that Pakistan would only buy the F-16s if some arrangement was worked out “otherwise we will look for some other (fighter) aircraft”.

He, nevertheless, looked optimistic about the issue being resolved and said: “We’ll be able to find some way out”. The message from the adviser looked very calculated.

It should be recalled that Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, whose committee has jurisdiction over foreign arms sales and who is maintaining the hold on the financing of the deal, had while voting in favour of the sale of the jets to Pakistan in March noted that he did not block the deal so that Islamabad is not driven towards Russian- or French-made jets.

Mr Corker had then said that he would like to maintain US leverage over Pakistan, which he described as uncertain ally, through its continued reliance on the US for maintenance of F-16s.

Despite approving the deal, Mr Corker withheld its financial component.

Among the key reasons behind the Congressional hold are concerns that Pakistan has not taken enough action against the Haqqani network; jail sentence for Dr Shakeel Afridi — the physician who had cooperated with the US in tracking Osama bin Laden; and fears about Pakistani nuclear programme.

Here is the deal:
* Russian economy shrank 50% and there is no better time to milk Russian for their Hardware and technology than now.
* Saudis want Assad gone and Yemen secured.
* Saudi's are spending $50 Billion on their military yet unable to do anything in Syria crisis.
* Indian Pakistan already existing conventional arms gap is rapidly increasing.
* Pakistan needs serious money.
* GCC is willing to pay > World/Russia is willing to sell > Pakistan got the expertise to help GCC.

Let Russians know, multi-billion dollar order for Jets and Air-defense system awaits them if they let Assad go. Russians already ditched Iranians so many times on S-300 due to Israeli and western pressure that it wouldn't anymore surprise to them. Assad support and Syria showoff is nothing more than ego boost for little Putin. Show him the money and he will melt.

Once Russia backs-off, Assad might step down on his own. If not, drop few Babur and neutralized his military. Let west and Arab worried about the democratic process. Collect your cash from GCC and get on a shopping spree. Iranian might cry for a little while but they bring no value to us in this game.

After skimming thorough this thread, everything again and again comes down to $$ money $$. So this is the Deal.^^^
