What's new

Pakistan is interested n Romanian Puma Helicopters. Romania also pitched Submarines to Pakistan

Western or Russian ?

Romania can't buy Russian hardware anymore. The ideea of SAAB modernising the Kilo was floated to ....I hope they make a decision soon,it's embarassing training crews for a docked submarine.Imagine that in 20 years he's rusting there alot of people "served" on it and retired allready, and so on.-we even have former and current captains for it- ...."Who are you in the Romanian Navy ? I am captain of its sole submarine !....But that sub hasn't moved in 20 years..." lol

Ah well , won't comment on that. We have had our own " such not so good instances ".

But modernisation of a single kilo. Well it doesn't sound quite good. It would be better if Romania gets a couple of new built ones from DCNS or HDW or even SAAB. All make good ones.

Well, ofcourse it would be good but money......They have neglected the Army for so long that now when they finally raised the budget and started aquisition programs, they don't even know where to begin with modernisation and the submarines certainly aren't on top of the list.

Puma has marked itself as a reliable medium/heavy lift helicopter. It has earned quite a respect in Pak Army. It would be good to see some new models coming to PAA.

Guys I just talked to a friend and he busted busted this news. It's Italy which has offered us weapons including submarines and helicopters not Romania.

Sir with the recent hi powered delegations having visited us, I saw that coming. And best part is that Italy will never pay a heed to objections by India as after the recent AgustaWestland deal fiasco and detaining of Italian sailors by India, the diplomatic relations between the two are all time low. Also Italy had been a good supplier in field of UAVs, Griffo Radars and SAM system.

Claim can be contested as Romania has no domestic submarine production capability.
As for their existing fleet, the country has only one (outdated) Kilo Class Submarine and that too is not sea-worthy for now.

Pakistan could be on a hunting spree of buying old retired subs for reserve engineering and education for developing a home grown industry..

My take is it would be a part of packge which will include assault rifles ,JF 17 avionics ,missles plus these Helis and Subs would be nice win win deal for both of us .

The UK have also upgraded their PUMA's in Romania.

The Kilo won't be going anywhere,it's being kept docked to maintain a minimum of skill on operating a submarine for cadets untill we will buy new submarines.Quite pathetic and funny seeing the lads training on a submarine which hasn't moved in 15 years but hey.....

Hey, a submarine is a submarine, whether it's operational or useless. :P

Airbus Helicopters is in the process of transferring the H215 Super Puma line to Romania, it seems Pakistan is interested in lining up as a customer. The Super Puma is being marketed as a cost-effective solution. @Horus I have an article on the way about this.

Bilal they have only 4 in numbers plus Zarvan said its about Italy which make more logical italy is right answer .

Useless when you are to produce new ones and gave license to produce Agostas & cosmos.

Not everything is included in these subs and its good to study several designs for unique features..this is how industrial development works..
