PRESS RELEASE

NO ENMITY, NO COMPETITION, SO ROMANIA AND PAKISTAN MUST COOPERATE WITH EACH OTHER IN DEFENCE SECTOR:RANA TANVEER HUSSAIN

Rawalpindi–25 April, 2016

Pakistan and Romania on Monday decided to enhance defence cooperation. This understanding reached during a meeting ofRomanian delegation and Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Defence Production (MoDP). They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and enhancing cooperation in defence production.

“As Pakistan and Romania does not share enmity or competition so they must cooperate in the field of defence”, said Rana Tanveer Hussain.

MoDP also showed interest in Puma helicopters. These helicopters were procured by Pakistan from 1987 to 88.The Pakistan Army has been using Pumas for transportation of army personal, food and equipment. The Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma is a four-bladed, twin-engine medium carriage helicopter. These helicopters played important role in Siachin flare.

Federal Minister also mentioned that the Romanian delegation should visit POF Wah, PAC Kamra and HIT Taxila in order to identify the areas of cooperation. Romanian side also tried to convince Pakistan to procure submarines. Pakistan and Romania signed an agreement in 2013 on defence cooperation in the fields of training, exports, imports of defence equipment and high-level engagements.

Romania doesn't produce submarines and Pumas haven't been manufactured in here for some 15 years now altough a new model will be manufactured by Airbus in the old plant within 1-2 years time. They can also upgrade or perform MLU on existing models.

Probably just another delegation of our clowns waisting time on tax payers money with trips around the world.

Hello All
First of all I would like every one to open airbus helicopter Romania.
Please note they do make Helicopters and some very good one.
The company is already known worldwide for its capacity, craftsmanship and sense of duty in performing repair, overhaul and upgrading on the entire old range (Puma and Gazelle), the Super Puma, the Dauphin / Panther, the Ecureuil families and the H135 helicopter.

Puma have a very big family and different makers, These boys are heavy lifters and good for high altitude , Pakistan already using them in Siachen Glacier .

And As per News our MoDP showed interest in "buying" Helicopters form Romania , so we can replace our old Puma or (MLU of old ones.

@flamer84 no sir the visit is not a waist , Our MoDP can only talk about Puma if Army Aviation already put a requirement of there replacement or MLU of Old Birds .And the negotiations may take over a year .

Thank You All

As per wikipedia PUMA IAR 330 assembly line in Romania is still active and Pakistan has 4 Romanian built units in inventory.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAR_330

They also have a armed version called the PUMA SOCAT similar to thee MI-35 HIND. Their naval SAR PUMA version has inflatable floats and can land on water even. Makes sense for Pakistan negotiating with them as they currently have the only active PUMA assembly line. Even a PUMA upgrade with optical tracking would be viable.

As for the submarine they've been looking for a customer to offload their sole KILO class submarine for a while now but no takers. They have plans for a refurbish and return to service but because of funds its in reserve. Unlikely for Pakistan as it already has new ones on order but will make sense for a country like Bangladesh as they certainly are looking for something like this.

About the sole kilo
"The submarine successfully accomplished 67 missions, with 2000 hours of immersion.[5] During these missions, Delfinul launched 23 torpedoes and 2 naval mines.[5] In 1996, the submarine exhausted the resources of the initial batteries and is kept in reserve since then. After 2001, the submarine was transferred to the "Mircea cel Bătrân" Naval Academy, being used as a training ship.[1][5] Numerous overhauling plans have been proposed since 1996, yet none was implemented." (From Wiki )

with 2000 hours. Its pretty young.
But if its to be sold , it will likely be a nation already operating the kilos. A nice refit can get this back...
Maybe Algeria or Vietnam... or who knows even India....

.
They have the right to manufacture more and also export PUMA.

If Pakistan does go after Kilo submarine then they would also try to get one from Poland. This is highly unlikely because India uses them and have all the technical knowledge.

Romania might also be considering other equipment from Pakistan...

.
I can only see Armed Version of Puma coming. I think from now on Pakistan would try to buy all those Transport helicopters which also can carry and fire weapons.

Guys I just talked to a friend and he busted busted this news. It's Italy which has offered us weapons including submarines and helicopters not Romania.

.
Pakistan should try to locally produce helicopter. It might be anyone but it should be someone

The UK have also upgraded their PUMA's in Romania.

http://www.business-review.eu/featu...ma-mk2-helicopter-to-uk-royal-air-force-32801

The upgrade to Puma Mk2 brings improvements in performance and safety. Helicopters will be fitted with new Makila 1A1 turbo shaft engines, and will have a full glass cockpit incorporating modern avionics and a flight management system. Eurcopter will implement a digital automatic flight control system, as well as other systems for secure communications and ballistic protection.

The enhanced Puma will represent a key element of the UK’s medium battlefield support helicopter capability. It will be deployed for tactical troop and load movement by day and night.

The Kilo won't be going anywhere,it's being kept docked to maintain a minimum of skill on operating a submarine for cadets untill we will buy new submarines.Quite pathetic and funny seeing the lads training on a submarine which hasn't moved in 15 years but hey.....
