Pakistan invites Turkey to join $64 billion mega project

Pakistan has invited Turkey to join the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which would benefit both countries, official media said Nov. 8.

"Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkey, and the new government desires to further strengthen relations between Islamabad and Ankara, said Asad Qaiser, speaker of the National Assembly, while speaking with Turkey’s ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul.

Yurdakul met with Qaiser in his office at Parliament House in Islamabad.

According to state-run Radio Pakistan, Qaiser invited Turkey to join CPEC, which will benefit all countries in the region.

CPEC, a $64 billion megaproject signed in 2014, aims to connect China's strategically important northwestern Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Gwadar Port through a network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport cargo, oil and gas.

The economic corridor will not only provide China with cheaper access to Africa and the Middle East but will also earn Pakistan billions of dollars for providing transit facilities to the world’s second-largest economy.
Turkey’s ambassador also vowed to strengthen relations with Pakistan.

"The Turkish people always consider Pakistan as their second home, and we wish to see this country always strong and prosperous," Yurdakul said.

Yurdakul also extended an invitation to Qaiser to attend the second League of Parliamentarian Conference for Al-Quds, which will be held on Dec. 14 in Istanbul.

If Turkey is invited, than whole of Mediterranean, including Israel may also be invited. Trade routes/Regions through red sea to Southern Europe may be connected by that.

2nd, if I am not wrong Turkey itself is facing economic difficulties.

Pakistan have to increase it's exports by hook or by crook to extent where we can fund our own development.. there is no otherway. We are not darling of west or the so called brothers, everyone is looking for his own, so should Pakistan..

China's imports reached 1.5 trillion USD last year (against exports at around 1.9 trillion USD). 1.5 trillion is something your country imports monthly, making your trade two-way, I guess.

Just in a week-long import expo, China signed about 60 billion USD worth of deals with the rest of the world (mostly high-tech products and industrial machinery).

Chinese will not let Pakistan default on it's IMF loan but the same time Chinese are concerned about high corruption in Pakistan and they want to protect their investment. If for some reason IK government fails or he dissolves assemblies, Chinese government model will be adopted by the establishment. There will be a pseudo-Marshal Law, Pakistan will become real client state of China and will become dependent of China.
