i can ask the same question can India dare to attack Pakistan ( remember we are discussing an open indo-pak nuclear war scenario or total war so to speak ) in that case lets face it, this is not 71 anymore an open indo-pak nuclear war will mean "mutually assured destruction" which means Pakistan will be mentally prepared to be to annihilated but along with that be rest assured that Pakistan has enough nukes that it will make sure that India also gets annihilated in the process so if Pakistan wont survive a nuclear war neither will India . thats what mutually assured destruction is all about as for someone taking about landmass well the ratio of landmass between India & Pakistan is (340,000 sq mi / 1,238,830 sq mi) is like 3.6 which can be neutralized in an event of a nuclear fallout as per the "mutually assured destruction" policy, hypothetically speaking say in an event of a France vs China nuclear fall out in which scenario both France & China can completely annihilated each other even though the difference between France & Chinas landmass is like (260 558 sq mi / 3,704,427 sq mi) a whooping 14.2 ! well compare to this the difference in size between India & Pakistan is just 3.6 in other words Pakistan is nearly 30% the size of India's total landmass so size is a non issue in this & that what a nuclear war based on ("mutually assured destruction" ) doctrine does it neutralizes the size difference
in another words say if it will take for India to use 5 nuclear warheads to annihilate Pakistan then same way it will take around 17 nuclear warheads for Pakistan to annihilate India. & we all know both India & Pakistan have warheads by the hundreds so if things comes down to that then both India & Pakistan can very well annihilate each other
