What's new

Pakistan, India amongst top 5 most dangerous countries for women.

I am from south India, and we have the least violance against women in the whole country, and do you know why? its because of litracy in the south. If litracy in improved in all parts of India and Pakistan we can reduce ill treatment of women in rural parts too.

Actually new reports have revealed urban educated people indulge more in killing girl baby in the fetous in North India, Villagers dont even have access to such facilities. Its more to do with culture.

Mentality would be the right word. because in many cases, women- mother in law, sister in laws and even sometimes the mother herself, promote female foeticide.

oh, men can have 4 wives but dancing is prohibited as per Islam. this is what is called as male dominance. I am not pointing to the general Pakistani or Islamic population in this post. I know that there are lot of men in Pakistan who belive in equal rights and freedom to women.

man can having 4 wives only if he helping a widow which have no powers or to support his house and if he has childeren then islam ordered to support his childeren by educations by wealth or etc

Those people maybe urban but can't be educated . They may have been eduacted in some useless govt.schools . people with real good education don't indulge in such things .

Either pubs, dance bars should altogether be banned or there should be equal freedom for men & women to go there. U cant have different views for men & women.

in pakistan pubs are banned or illegal pakisan 90 percent men do not go to pubs

Really?

Its not only about pakistan though. I am challenging your POV. If men are allowed to drink, why not women? if men are allowed to smoke, why not women? Women should not drink & smoke, agreed, but same with men too. Why a different yardstick for both?

are there no unmarried men or widoer(men) who can come forward and give life to a widow. polygamy is some thing not acceptable. so as per your argument if a woman is wealty, she can marry as many widoers(man) so that she can help them with their life for food and accomodation. if this is ok with your so called laws then men can have 4 wivies, if otherwise(women can not have 4 husbands) then your arugment fails miserably on moral grounds.

so you say that 10% of the men who go to pubs, defy your law and do illegal dancing and who are they dancing with? men with men?

They have no answer to this.

There are alot more knowledgeable Muslims in this forum compared to me, but my believe is, we're only allowed to take 4 wives if it makes life better for everyone involved. And there is no compulsion in this, a women is free to decide if she wants to marry or not. Islam mentions a limit of wives at a time when kings had thousands of wives.

Does Hinduism (which I'm assuming you are) mention anything on the limit of wives one can take?

We all could find fault in every religion if we wanted, but at the end of day, God gave us brains and with that we can decide what is best for ourselves :)

I think you are referring to King Dasarada, who is said to have 65,000 wives. If you are reffering to this, then you have misunderstood. He only had three wives in reality the rest of the women in the country declared to GOD that they are by mind married to the King so that the Lord Yama(Lord of death) will think 65,000 times before taking the life of King Dasarada. The King was soo good to the people and his nation that no women in his country was interested in loosing this great king for Lord Yama when his time comes.

I hope now you understand the story and these kind of stories were writen in Hinduism to show and teach the future leaders of the nation how a countries leader should be, but unfortunatly the esence was lost in time and we have a lot of rotten eggs in the Parliment.

The question was whether women are allowed to have more than one husband or not.

sad and shocking results abt the condition of women in Pakistan but someone made a point above..its mostly in rural part of the country...where women are not given their rights

Very interesting :agree: I've seen this Rama cartoon on TV and heard some Hindu mythology stories. All very interesting with good moral tales

The question was whether women are allowed to have more than one husband or not.

I would like to give an honest answer to that, but it might be considered blasphemous to some of the Muslim members here. Maybe someone with better knowledge of Islam can answer this :)

Pakistani woman villager is forced to 'parade naked'

By M Ilyas Khan BBC News, Islamabad

Women in Pakistan The incident is rare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - one of Pakistan's most conservative provinces

Police in Pakistan say they have arrested two men for stripping a woman naked and parading her in a village.

One of the offenders had accused the woman's son of having illicit relations with his wife, the police said.

Public dishonouring of women is not uncommon in Pakistan and other parts of South Asia, but the incident is rare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police said villagers where the incident took place did not try to stop it because the offenders were armed.

Haripur district police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur told the BBC that a resident of Nilor Bala village had complained to village elders that two men had had sexual relations with his wife.

According to the police, a village council advised the complainant to divorce his wife.

Instead, he and four armed men stormed the house belonging to the mother of one of the men alleged to have slept with his wife in order to kill her son.

Because the son was not there, the men dragged the mother out, stripped her and made her walk through the village, the police said.

They have now registered a case against seven people, but only two have been arrested so far. They say they are looking for other offenders.

Campaigners say achieving justice for women who are abused in Pakistan is difficult.

In 2002, Mukhtar Mai was gang-raped by members of a tribe in the village of Meerwala in Punjab province after her brother was accused of having sexual relations with a local woman.

Ms Mai launched legal proceedings against the alleged offenders. Six men were convicted but five were acquitted on appeal by the Pakistani Supreme Court in April.
