Pakistan was the first country to start negotiations with China on the import of the HQ-9 medium to long-range active radar homing surface-to-air missile and the HQ-16 truck-based vertically launched surface-to-air missile, according to the April 2015 edition of Kanwa Defense Review.

It’s not surprising that Pakistan is choosing the HQ-9 to arm its air force given that its early warning aircraft and the majority of its fighters are Chinese, according to the journal.

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are also among potential customers for China’s anti-aircraft missiles, possibly frustrating exports of Russia’s S-300 series of long range surface-to-air missile systems, originally developed by the Soviet Union.

The report also said that China is planning to sell a range of equipment to Kazakhstan, including the Wing Loong or Yilong 1 drone.

At the beginning of the 20th Century, many of these former Soviet states exported weapons to China. Kazakhstan, for example, exported torpedoes, while Azerbaijan was formerly a major production base for Su-25 ground attack aircraft. China once received a Su-25 from Ukraine for research purposes. Now it seems the tides have turned and China is providing weapons for them, the report said.

thats a very good news for pakistan if that news is true

their SAM coverage area would increase & if they place those SAM radars nearby their border they can monitor movement of IAF planes within indian air space quite easily

& not only that the SEAD mission for IAF would be more difficult than before

BTW i have posted my views how would INDIA do it's SEAD mission in future
Potential of SEAD operations in the IAF

Wow Pakistan is catching up big time as now they have three free cash cows. Looks like Pakistan will end up buying at least 10 submarines from China and the West . . India need to watch out

Saudis hasnt financed any defence procurements of Pakistan. We mostly procure high tech weapons on cash from america and europe. Whereas medium tech weapons fron china, mostly on loans.

Any specs of this???

No. Saudis did many bailout for Pakistan. Just google. Many weapons like F-16, P-3C etc are given by US as military aid. Google again.

Good for Pakistan @DrSomnath999 do you think India need to go for LRSAM like S 400 or David sling in future

My POV

yes !!! for S-400 or develop similiar system indigeniously if you can

David sling is also not bad it was also offered to india quite sometime back
Shri Aniruddha Sharanam Mamah: Rafael Confirms Offer of Iron Dome, David's Sling to Indian Armed Forces

also develop VHF radar system like russia & china are developing & building to counter VLO platforms

While multiple sources report that Pakistan signed a deal for LY-80 missiles in december with deliveries set to begin in 24 months after signing.

But when it's comes to HQ-9 Kanwa did report in chinese language Kanwa magazine march 2015 issue that a deal is not expected to signed before end 2016 as negotiations are far from over.

Previous negotiations on HQ-9 stalled after after high price issues.

can you backup your claim with 'official details'

Great news almost a game changer on the areas it will be installed Pakistan making some wise decision the coverage of these Sam is good and they will impact big on enemy air space.

India commited bid mistake . S400 and s500 are awesome weapons. They would have changed chinese view about radar evading j series aircraft doctrine against Indians

The good news is that all new Chinese SAMS will come with AESA radars, so it will not be easy job for IAF to conduct SEAD/DEAD in Pakistani territory as Pakistan will be able to track and engage targets within Indian air space in all out war.

I totally agree. There has also been an ambiguity about Pakistani hardware against good fighter with electronic suite. If Pakistan can actually give a fight ?

With this weapon and few hoax blow up trucks Pakistan can keep IAF guessing.
