Pakistan fights foreign militants, Calling for Help!

Life will go on as is....US will not win in Afghanistan...the writing is on the wall...Pakistan will ride out the pressure because this is turning into a Pashtun struggle against the ISAF/NATO. Given the circumstances, I think Pakistan is doing the right thing as we know that US interest in Afghanistan will not last. After they leave, Pakistan would have start from ground zero if it overplays its part in the GWOT.

This pushing, prodding and pressure tactics will come from time to time but Pakistani interests are to see the NATO/ISAF out of Afghanistan and broker a deal with the Pashtuns (who would have to tone down the Taliban influence).

British are already making their own local deals while the western press is going gaga about the Pakistan deal. Anyone who knows anything about Afghanistan (British do) can see the writing on the wall...this is not a winnable war for as long Pashtuns are bundled up as taliban and marginalized.

If the writing on the wall is so clear, then pakista is going to back to pt zero and would have to face the wrath of these extremists.

There were 150 killed by NATO/PA alliance, before that 80 died in PA gunship attack.Wont they come back at you after the US leaves.

So if you read all these together, then you the writing on the wall is very clear for Pakistan too, and that would be more catastrophic too, asUS can pack the bags and leave so can the British, but the Pakistanis cant.

You are assuming that in the event of a power vaccum there wont be anyother players. Bang India,The only place RAW is doing good job is Afghanistan.

US wont loose interest in the region for the mere fact that you pointed out, They wont win. That means they have to keep an eye on the region. Resurgence of Tailban to the level of controlling Kabul again is a non starter, they wont be allowed at any cost by the US.

My own take is that in Afghanistan, India will lose out like it did in the 90s. India's investment has been primarily in NA and Karzai's team. As Karzai goes, so will India's influence.

US will leave Afghanistan and the country would go back to factional warfare again. US has no problem with Taliban...lets just get that straight...they OK'd Pakistani cooperation with them for as long as the AQ folks had not moved there and actually supported the Taliban tacitly due to their interests being furthered by Unocal (read Ahmed Rashid's book "Talibaan"). If the AQ component is not in Afghanistan, US has no interest in the country.

but then again i just kinda noticed u r a moderater...time to suck up...lol

I love this forum so much...all are such nice people....they have so many good mods around.....:pff:

you are wrong there, they are pretty well known all over the world. I have worked with the Times group in the UK and my dad used to have a Newspaper called Keralean, which basically means Kearalite. I am sure Bull over here would have heard about it. I have close links with most journo's here as well as a couple of them abroad who were dad's friends.

I am not influencing anything with my moderation and in any case why would I? You have not said anything aside from disagreeing (which I better be prepared for if I come to a Pakistani defence board which has Indians as it members ;) . I tend to disconnect on long threads in any case. I was just pointing out that there is inherent bias in most Indian publications about Pakistan and I have no reason to believe that the ones quoted above are any different. ISI is a villain in the Indian press and they do their utmost to cast it in the most negative light. In reality as you pointed out, its not that much different than any other active intelligence agency around the world. Drug trafficking as a side business for ISI does not make any sense esp. as I pointed out that there are parallel agencies working on interdiction with officers from ISI and SSG seconded to them (ANF in this case) and the biggest tool for movement of illicit drugs etc. at ISI's disposal (it used to be an entity known as NLC) has been disbanded. In terms of the "Dad" connections, I do know a few things as well thus I make the above points.

Not me, but the other mods here are indeed very nice.
One thing for sure...with this kind of disagreement on an Indian board, you know and I know that my Pakistani arse would be thrown out as soon as I started posting with the liberty with which all of us post here.

Cheers!

Well i have not been to one. Other than this im just a member of WAB, which i love too.

The point is that what will we discuss among indians in a Indian forum,we allwe say pakistan is evil, ISI is evil and everybody will nod.

Over here and in WAB you meet different people so you form an opinion which is more unbiased and balanced.

Now isnt that the whole idea of all these public forums.

And regarding getting thrown out for what i said, well i consider PFF as an exception among other pakistani boards. The guys here are more genuine, esp the guy who invited me over here.

Well, i respect PFF mods here a lot for the freedom granted here, in return for being civil. So , its an awsum forum.

I too am a member of WAB, which again is cool

But, i am also a member of IndiaDefenseForums. I would like to say one thing there. The PURPOSE of that forum was not to turn into an India style PDF. Th mods there would control ANY type of misbehavior there against any1. As soon as there is misbehavior, he/she of any country is warned. And its 'democratic' LOL. I mean the mods are voted. A Pakistani can also become a mod there if he gets the votes of the forum members. I dont think a mod can have 2 consecutive terms in office though. Last time, a Chinese guy came fourth, only 3 are elected mods. And Srirangan, he used to be here is admin i think. And he's VERY strict about the forum not becomming a PDF. And that is what i love there too.

TOO True! Too True!

it is very true fact, this board is very open and i might add more tolerent than WAB. You can only carry anti-americanism to a limited degree there.
Where i find this board lacking, is handlin certain characters who monger the PDF way, piss drinkin hindus, hindujus etc etc

I would seriously LOVE to have some 'debates' with them on neutral territory.
