We never really talked to the US about the partnership, we never worked on building a relationship and kept the focus on single issues.

So the Americans see nothing to continue the Pak-US thing. The bake-sale's over.

And to think that our FM could have learnt so much the last time about focusing on transtitional relationships instead of cementing ties with others.

Granted some projects are bound by geography (like land locked Afghanistan), so the northern and Eastern neighbor become more vital.


Just learn from Indians.


They are jumping up and down for the last 20 years. Begging Americans to add them to the new projects.

Sometimes they get it. And sometimes Americans say "No Thankyou".

Same thing with Pakistan.


Americans are wrapping up one project.

I am sure the new ones will start soon.

Instead of lamenting about the past, look towards the future.

I am sure you have heard of the quote from Hamlet that ' there are more things in heaven and earth Horatio than are dreamt of in your philosophy ' . People here seem to think that the American interests in the region start from Afghanistan and end there and that after it is done post 2014 , the US doesn't need Pakistan ever for anything . Not the case actually , in fact the opposite , they need Islamabad for decades to come , lets see if we do not make the same mistake .
