Pakistan F-16 jets intercepted Delhi-Kabul Spicejet flight assigned with a Military Code

A passenger onboard the flight, while requesting anonymity, said the Pakistani jet pilot, through hand gestures, asked the Spice Jet pilot to lower the altitude of the plane. The passengers were also asked to shut their windows and maintain silence, the agency added. The flight, however, reached Kabul safely.

What a terrible bollywood script.

An F-16 pilot is giving hand signals to the Spice Jet pilot like they are travelling on M1 motorway. The source of this rumor is ANI, the same propaganda outlet that produced fake videos of GEO and ARY news to fool people.

These are the fake videos produced by ANI:

Hand signalling is a common thing upon interception of aircrafts.Usually the pilot signals the other aircraft pilot to tune to a certain frequency via hand signals and if doesn't respond then may give anyother hand signals as well such as a threat of shooting down.
P.S I am not saying this story is for sure legit.

Sorry Folks , not captured from the Spice Jet, rather PAF F-16s formatting with a Turkish Tanker for a refueling exercise. :D

ATC operates with the call sign appearing on Radar with designated blip codes. No one is mistaking anything here except that someone is playing deception tactics to lure the other side for an unwanted action amid hostility & high times. Why a passenger jet was shot above or near Syria, is the history.

What can you expect from a nation whose president said he ordered his jets to hide behind the clouds and attack Balakot.

i think we should not use f16 for such commercial planes but use jf17 as they are enough to deal with them and will be cost effective,I think indian media is spreading fake news as we not needed f16 for such purposes and I am sure if this event happened we used jf17 for this purpose
It would have more to do with the urgency of the situation. Based on the urgent need of dealing with a threat...PAF would scramble the jets from the closest airbase to intercept the "potential" IAF jet...rather than thinking about cost savings. If the nearest airbase has a squadron operating F16s rather than JF17s then F16s are going to get airborne for interception. Time is of the essence in these situations.

Somebody in Lahore ATC probably mistook India to Afghanistan flight as IAF
Their has to be a communication gap while jotting down the abbreviation

If you know how alphabets are in aviation language, you will never give the above opinion/statement.

Shpice jet may have carried out a secret shurgical shtrike killing 300 terrorists....

India will announce it at right time and also shooting down of both f 16s

One can't ignore the possibility of deception tactics and luring the rival to commit a gross mistake. Not to mention that Indians are so close with Susraelis who is famous for such kind of sneak & attack under the guise of airliners or even fooling the Air Defence. What I see in this episode that if PAF has done such interception without fueling any heat, is the reason that we do learn their ways & understand in line of counter tactics. PAF knows them well, the both foes.

Next time it uses the wrong identification code, shoot it down without warning. No need to be polite with them.

What's the situation now... do we have air space blocked for Indian airliners or not?

Pakistan’s F-16 Jets Intercept Indian Flight Over Pakistan: Report

  • Times of India
  • Pakistan Air Force (PAF) reportedly sent its F-16 aircraft to intercept an Afghanistan-bound commercial Indian flight last month after a mix-up from the Air Traffic Control (ATC).

Spicejet’s Delhi-Kabul flight was in the air when two F-16 aircraft flanked the Indian airplane and asked the pilot to lower its altitude and provide them with flight details.

The incident, which is told to have taken place on September 23rd, occurred due to confusion at ATC’s end. As per reports, the SpiceJet flight with 120 passengers aboard flew from Delhi to Kabul.

Since every flight has its specific code, SpiceJet’s plane’s code was ‘SG.’ The ATC officials mistook it with ‘IA,’ which is code for Indian Air Force (IAF) jets. The air traffic control hastily informed about an approaching flight with ‘IA’ code, prompting PAF to respond.

“At the time when Pakistani F-16s were flying around their flight, the passengers were told to shut the windows and remain silent,” one of the passengers was quoted as saying.

According to Indian media, Pakistan fighter jets escorted the Indian flight till it entered Afghan airspace after the confusion was cleared. Pakistani authorities, on the other hand, have neither confirmed nor rejected the story so far.

Note that due to high tensions between Pakistan and India, the country has closed three of its air routes for Indian carriers, disconnecting direct flights to the US, Europe and the Middle East.

I like this bravado. But they didn't do anything while India swiftly Integrated Kashmir. You think PAF will risk nuclear war by shooting down an Indian civilian plane?
