What's new

Pakistan doesn't need a foreign minister - Mian Nawaz Shareef

And what makes you think you know what they have made as an opinion, regardless the job is to address the world at large with a team

the primary job of diplomats is to communicate positions of their governments. they rarely make policy.

Aye pointed noted. But at least someone that will be appointed will be better than a guys who can barely speak without looking at his paper or asking his younger brother in front of Chinese as to what is written or meant by sweeter than honey and deeper then the trench of marina. But then again as you posted above what more can be expected of a guy who appoints a special envoy for Kashmir that has 0 knowledge of even where Kashmir is located

American Ambassadors have also been politically appointed, depending on how much donations they've provided to the elected President/ Congressmen. But a lot has changed, most now are career diplomats or individuals who have extensive foreign relations experience.

But they're required to bring FDI/Trade from the countries they're sent to, while representing the US.

Name one minister you consider competent
What did they accomplish that the current regime has not accomplished ??
I would go for Mr Sahibzada Yaqub Khan (1920-2016) as one of the best.

Personal Achievements: A POW twice in the Second World War, Awarded the Military Cross by UK, Head of bodyguards of Mr Jinnah, Commanded an Armoured Division, Became Army Chief of East Pakistan, Became Ambassador to Soviet Union, France and United States, represented the UN in Nicaragua and Western Sahara.

Foreign Minister: Was FM of seven governments. Played a key role representing Pakistan during the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan.

Perhaps he is best remembered for the 1977 Hanafi Siege while he was the Ambassador of the US. He, along with Ambassadors of Egypt and Iran, saved hundreds of lives while negotiating with terrorists...

Indian terrorists are being arrested from Baluchistan, Indian RAW is found involved in Karachi with MQM and Afghanistan just had a border skirmish for the first time decades where Afghan soldiers fired at Pakistani Soldiers. What the F! was your beloved PM doing as FM then?

Show me a single statement on the subject? India's interior minister has publicly labelled Pakistan a "Terrorist State" and Indian Prime Minister on Indian National day gave speech about Baluchistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Show me a single word coming out of this Nawaz Scum in the favour of Pakistan or that tried to give India a response?

You talk of UN UK US? UK is refusing to arrest Altaf. US is discussing a bill to call Pakistan a terrorist sponsor-er. What are you sensing PM is doing as FM there? Afghanistan is now completely sitting in the lap of India. What has our Foreign Minister done to correct that? Bangladesh has given statement to have an "official; policy towards Baluchistan", what effort have you seen from PM/FM on the subject? Show me a single press-release or a statement on the subject coming out of his "office" or "mouth".

Don't give a generalised opinion by giving one liner. If you cannot defend your point with reason, you better shut your fingers down.
:tup:Very well said I also said something along the same vibe regarding master noora on another thread and his decisions that put his interests above the states and just because he has read a speech which he was forced to read by pressure and him delivering a speech was a painful for the ears it had no spine, no clout,, no authority, no testicles required for a leader. I look forward to the day when noora and zaleeldari vanish, unfortunately imran has made blunders already by making odd and immature statements. we need young nationalist leadership.

OF IT DOESNT....HE HAS SINGLEHANDEDLY MANAGED TO DISMANTLE ANY DIPLOMATIC STANDING PAKISTAN BUILT OVER 70 YEARS [MINUS THE YEARS HE AND BENAZIR WERE IN CHARGE]........

he might be the best person to become foreign minister. he advised against military solution in east pakistan.

According to Pakistan's Prime Minister, Pakistan doesn't need a foreign minister and he has so "thoughtfully" appointed himself as one. Here are his reasons;
  1. Nawaz doesn't trust a person to represent his government internationally, that is why Pakistan doesn't deserve to have a Foreign Minister.
  2. Nawaz lacks communication, negotiation and convincing powers, yet he is the best FM Pakistan can have.
  3. Nawaz may have zero expertise as FM and cannot justify his position, yet he is still the best FM Pakistan can have.
  4. When Pakistan is fighting a neighbour sponsored war of terrorism, Pakistan doesn't need a FM.
  5. When India is doing all time high propaganda against Pakistan, Pakistan doesn't need a FM.
  6. When Pakistan is facing hostility from India, Pakistan doesn't need a FM.
This scum is so insecure that he is prepared to lose a country but he wouldn't lose his chair or show flexibility. May Allah punish him for insincerity with the country and may he be another Altaf Hussain within his life time.
you are being over sensitive. he and other Sherif went on a Jet set to talk sense into Iran and KSA

now Rohani wants to be part of CPEC

give Nawaz some credit. yes he likes his food but he can still read through the paper no matter how much Obama trolls him

Hey Irfan,

There is never a substitute of a leader. Take any institute, organisation or a department which is performing and you'd find it has a head, a person who leads it and sets its direction, makes corrective actions along the way and decides if it is the right time to play aggressively or safe.

When it comes to foreign ministry, a Foreign Minister is Pakistan's face for the world outside. No other country in the world has left this position empty. And every other country is not facing challenges which Pakistan is facing. Our friend and foes are being redefined and intensity of friends/enemies is changing; UAE, Saudi Arabia on one hand and Iran and Russia on the other. We need somebody to work on these countries and earn Pakistan favours. You've given one example where Nawaz and Gen Raheel were together - good - but had it not been better when a full-time and a competent foreign minster, Gen. Raheel and Nawaz were together for the same? Nawaz is PM and he has 100 other things to handle, so is Gen. Raheel who has 100 other areas to work on - but a FM would be 100% available to handle foreign affairs.

On the other hand, I want to know "WHY" part in the head of Nawaz that why he has't appointed one - and the reasons are his personal insecurities. In a driving test, you fail to qualify if you were too careful or if you act as if you were afraid to drive normally. How can we let a person run a Nation who has 100 personal insecurities and is compromising National Interests because he has phobias? Nothing against Nawaz but I believe horses for courses - and Nawaz at best is a donkey. Give him a role which suites his back.

Foreign Minister , issue we will fix by next election no major issue. Nawaz stated what had to be stated

Many. Pmln folks give reason of sartaj Aziz as acting fm

Sartaj is a senior citizen. He is unable to work as hard as the position demands. We have seen a similar example when an honest but elderly person, Fakhurudin Ibrahim was appointed as head of Election Comission and he failed miserably. With age, even the best flowers lose their aroma and appeal.
