Pakistan develops homemade anti-Covid vaccine 'PakVac'

Quite true.
Wrong title. It's simply a licensed version of Sinovac. Just like we produce german G3 rifle at POF.
People gave wrong titles , officially GOP never claimed it as a indigenous Pakistani production.

Nothing to do with Sinovac, we are talking about another vaccine

Not only this vaccine is not devloped by Pakistan. It is not even being manufactured in Pakistan, but is being simply bottled in Pakistan.

Somehow, It just reminded me of other Chinese products, that are being repackaged in Pakistan, but are being claimed as their own.

They are not only, not developed in Pakistan but also not manufactured in Pakistan, but are assembled from CKD kits imported from China. eg Buraq UAV or JF 17 thunder or Al Khalid tank.

LoL. Only an Indian would try to somehow equate vaccine manufacturing with defense joint projects.
Anyway, there seems to be a vaccine repackaging program as well as a manufacturing program. We do not have details about the so called manufacturing program under license and all of us are skeptical anyway. At the most it will be similar to how India is manufacturing under license with dependence on foreign countries for various ingredients.
The defense projects are completely different and Pakistans defense industry contributions are well known and a separate topic all together, the Jf17 is a crown jewel of Pakistani defense industry with exports now to several countries. Pakistans manufacturing input is well known to be around 50%.

In a major achievement in its fight against the novel coronavirus, Pakistan on Monday announced that it has developed a homemade vaccine — PakVac — with the help of China's Cansino Bio after rigorous quality control checks.

The step is aimed at significantly reducing Pakistan’s dependence on other countries for Covid-19 vaccine.

The country started its vaccination campaign in February with doses donated by the government of China. The campaign started with frontline healthcare workers and then inoculation of the senior citizens in the second phase.

Pakistan has now started the vaccination of people aged 30 and above. Over five million people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far.

"Congratulations to the NIH (National Institute of Health) Pak team and its leadership for successful fill/finish (from concentrate) of the Cansino vaccine with the help of Cansino Bio Inc. China," Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan wrote on his official Twitter handle.

He said that the vaccine has passed rigorous internal quality assurance testing, considering it an important step to help the vaccine supply line.

An official from the Ministry of National Health Services has said that due to the agreement on technology transfer, the NIH would be able to produce three million doses per month.

NHS had announced that the first batch of China’s single-dose CanSino Covid-19 vaccine would be available for administration to the citizens by the end of May.

"The first batch of bulk CanSino vaccine is being processed at the National Institute of Health’s plant, which was set up for this purpose last month, and a specially trained team is working on it," the official said earlier this month.

On Friday, the National Assembly was informed that Pakistan has started local production of anti-Covid vaccine.

Parliamentary Secretary for NHS Nausheen Hamid told the house during question hour that the first batch of CanSino vaccine is currently being manufactured at the NIH.

I WONDER WHERE WERE THE 5 BASIC STEPS OCCURED! FOR THIS CASINO VACCINE ⚒🔨🔧.
BUYING CHINESE VACCINE AND JUST MAKING pakistani thappa on it,
because pakistan public is very crictical of chinese ,cheap products,
naming it a pakistani- will appeal better i guess,

..........................like having generals elections with generals!
\or having general elections without the generals, .......
which every suits you...........

Canada is not the United States. In fact, Pfizer’s vaccine was developed in Germany. I don’t think Canada has the core technology of vaccines. It may be a bit of technology, but it is not the core technology for China to rely on.

you are hopelessly misinformed or ignorant. mRNA technology is licensed by the University of Pennsylvania to BioNTech and Moderna - it is not German IP.

Mainz, Germany, November 5, 2018 – BioNTech AG, a rapidly growing biotechnology company focused on the development of immunotherapies for the precise and individualized treatment of cancer and prevention of infectious diseases and the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), Philadelphia, USA, today announced that they have entered into a strategic research collaboration. The goal of the exclusive, multi-year partnership is to develop novel nucleoside-modified mRNA vaccine candidates for the prevention and treatment of various infectious diseases.
Under the terms of the agreement, BioNTech and the lab of Drew Weissman, MD, PhD, at Penn will exchange their in-depth knowledge and experience in mRNA research and development to advance the discovery of novel vaccine candidates. Penn will be responsible for a dedicated preclinical research program from discovery through to the completion of IND-enabling studies in up to ten infectious disease indications. BioNTech will be eligible to receive an exclusive worldwide license to further develop and commercialize product candidates arising from the research collaboration. If proprietary Penn technology is part of a new mRNA-based vaccine, the university will be eligible to receive additional milestone payments and royalties from BioNTech. Detailed financial terms were not disclosed.

Even if this is true, it has nothing to do with Cansino, which is not mRNA. It has nothing to do with Canada. What do you want to prove?

never mind.. I guess my point of view is lost in translation. If you are going to participate in a english language forum then I suggest you improve your language skills.

Why should I be responsible for your failure?

I told u guys... pakistan without china in todays world is as powerful and capable as afgonistan

I urge all to use Chinese vaccines only after research. use google. Chinese usually hide anything that goes wrong. Don't trust these vaccines. First use common sense. Use only if you are satisfied with customer reviews. Do your own research. see if there is something available on internet regarding these vaccines.

LoL. Only an Indian would try to somehow equate vaccine manufacturing with defense joint projects.
Being rational, vaccine manufacturing is determined by the strength of national pharmaceutical industry just as defense production depends upon aerospace and heavy industries which have experience pertaining to military industrial technologies.
And since vaccine development and manufacturing has become a PR tool for all major countries. It isn't surprising that smaller countries with nationalistic population won't try to grab it.

Pakistan right now lacks in both and is starting to learn with assembling systems first like India in 70s and 80s used to assemble MiGs. Development and R&D also needs infrastructure. Pak get doesn't have wind tunnels and ground test facilities for aerospace systems just as you need BS4 level bio labs to contain and study various COVID strains.

Just compare Pakistani R&D budget with all countries in the list you admire or dislike.

Pakistan and Bangladesh don't yet have ability of genome sequencing of coronavirus either to identify strains.

Most of APIs in world are manufactured China, India and USA. Pakistan imports most of life saving drugs on finished forms. So various companies from these countries are able to undertake large scale production due to availability of most APIs.
Vaccine development requires BS4 level labs which are available with 3-3 companies in China and India and many in US.

So, unless Pakistan sets up some API factories, it will not be anything more than pure blending and fermenting of imported drugs which will be more uneconomical due to lack of BS3 labs and low temperature (-5°C) plants.

The defense projects are completely different and Pakistans defense industry contributions are well known and a separate topic all together, the Jf17 is a crown jewel of Pakistani defense industry with exports now to several countries. Pakistans manufacturing input is well known to be around 50%.
I will appreciate your source if you are able to provide one.

All I know that besides rolling and welding of front fuselage, there is no component manufacturing of JF-17 in Pak yet and it's all just assembly and have a Pakistani source for it. R&D and development side was close to nil.
Besides East Asia, Europe and North America, only India, Iran, Turkey, RSA and Brazil have significant defense industries and even then these countries have to import a lot.
No other country in "third world" even does have a notable industrial base either. They can't make so many things except growing grains and sewing clothes.

You seem to have missed the main argument in the post and just decided to paste the same nationalistic and patriotic nonsense that has has gotten India to this state. Let me make it simple: Pakistans Vaccine manufacturing cannot not to be used to determine the the defense industry of Pakistan. Or lets say if India cannot develop and manufacture LCA it doesn’t mean it cannot develop and manufacture vaccines. Or let me make ot even more simple, if you are not a good doctor does that mean you are also not a good engineer? Each case and industry is a separate topic and discussion all together.
Your assessment of JF17 just an assembly is false - you probably have never worked in large integrated systems so you think just because you have certain parts manufactured by a subcontractor, it doesn't mean the system integrator and developer is just a dumb assembler. If it was just simple assembly then I guess no one needs to buy Jf17 from PAC and countries like Bangladesh, Nigeria can just repeat the same process here. Why is MAF working with PAC to but Jf17 as wel. The aircraft is a product that PAC has designed and manufactured with Chinese help. No independent western based defense publications has ever refuted that. Whose facilities PAC or HIT decide to utilize is their prerogative . With JF17 Pakistan got the rights and TOT to manufacture 50% of the aircraft with certain subsystems imported and integrated (like displays) and certain manufactured under license (like radars) while others developed indigenously. Certain components and subsystems are developed here as per Pakistans capacity, now are those subsystems 100% indigenous NO - the micro is most probably imported!!

The condescending attitude of Indian intelligentsia may seem annoying but has always worked in Pakistans favor - the same dismissive attitude made you think Pakistans is a “poor third word agricultural country” and can never make nukes, can never make missiles, cruise missiles etc etc.
More knowledgeable people have already written on the defense industrY topic so there is no need to derail this topic knowing that your biases are very deeply embedded.

By Turkish Immigrants.

Canada sold off its strategic last vaccine production site; but I believe they are restarting.

CanSino was also a collaboration but due to Huawei saga, they were shut out and credit denied .
