Ok enough of that - whatever Zardaris reputation, it does no take away from the fact that Pakistan is owed this money, and that is the focus of this thread.

Alleged embezzlement by Pakistani politicians can be addressed if and when it occurs - the US and Pakistan have an agreement on reimbursements for the expenses Pakistan incurs in support of NAO troops in Afghanistan, and the reimbursements are factored into the Pakistani budget since the GoP has to spend this money out of its own funds

Delaying reimbursements hits the budget pretty severely and will push the budget deficit pretty high - there will have to be cuts in other sectors.

There was no sarcasm intended in my previous post. It already has hit the budget and no amount of reinbursements can fill in the gap. For one the money mostly end up some place else then where its suppose to be(high level corruption) and secondly whatever remains usually end up delayed.

I agree that it has already hit the budget, but I disagree with your contention that we should just assume that the majority of the money will be just wasted or embezzled.

The embezzling by the politicians is going on as we speak, it won't stop or start because the US reimburses us for the money we spent on them, so why raise that issue?

Just because one does not like Zardari does not mean one should distract from a legitimate demand in terms of delayed reimbursements. This plays into US hands - they would rather Pakistanis focus on tangential issues instead of their role in delaying these reimbursements, despite all the clap trap of 'long term commitment to Pakistan'.

Why should the American’s pay us when we claim we are fighting “Pakistan’s War”? Why should they pay when we are already doing their job free of charge?

Our leadership has set our “AUQAT” at some paltry reimbursables. These reimbursable claims have to be verified and justified by the US Government contracting agencies. Did Pakistan seek their approval on the various expense heads before launching the operations; or account for every bullet and gallon of fuel during the operations? Was there a US Govt contracting specialist attached to our forces to sign up for what was spent?

US has been paying a princely sum of US$ 249 for each Afghan casualty. We are more or less in the same bracket.

American should pay ( and pay they shall one way or another ) since they have caused this war and they like to act like the world's 'thekedars'.

Pakistan should not only demand that the US make outstanding payments but should charge interest on late payments

Im one of those who never thought this to be 'our war' so to speak but this is indeed Pakistan's War , its directed at Pakistan , its being fought on our Land , its indeed our War.

We need to smarten up and fight it.

Every country cash out its regional importance example are Egypt who in return end its lone.
1.6 billon is to less for Pakistan and even from that 1.6 half of its money will go back to America.
Its time for Pakistani to take action against Americans.
