Nasty but lovely, would have liked to see a bigger mushroom cloud at the end. It was interesting to see the missile come out of a sheathing in flight when the jet ignited. Why did they go for sheathing option rather than not just have a water and pressure proofing exterior skin? This sheathing is a risky option. Or did the paint come off in flight or just poor editing?

That's not just sheathing. It's the initial booster stage designed to launch the missile out of the water. Why? 1) This stage is more optimised for under-water propulsion than is the missile itself, if the missile itself is at all (which almost none of them are). 2) Conserves the missiles fuel and hence range since the underwater boost exerts exponentially more drag on the system.
