Teenage preganacy is become a big problem in the western world, especially here in US. This is the result of culture in the house. And there is a fine line in this culture, if you put to much pressure upon the kids they will do it because of taboo, and if you do not put any pressure then they will have a free ride. It has become a balancing act in modern times that i believe ever parents in the western culture is going thru.

I think there are certain social problems which are peculiar to the US and UK. Compare these countries with even more sexually liberal countries like the Netherlands and Scandinavia. The netherlands has teh least amount of teenage pregnancies in the west, while germany's rate is half that of Britain's. This is definitely an Anglo-saxon phenomenon, and in teh UK at least, is largely confined to the "white trash" and "council estate (social housing)" communities whcih already suffer from various social ills.

I doubt you've ever picked up a newspaper in your life, otherwise you would have read this term. Recently I watched Eastenders, where Keith referred to himself and his family as "white trash".

It is definitely not a racist term.

The reason why i added council estate communities, is exactly because this phenomenon is not solely restricted to "white" people, but to people from the bottom of the social ladder, usually living on benefits.

The term white trash was extensively used in the recent reporting over the "kidnapped" girl in england recently, forgotten her name. Her family engineerd her "abduction" to gain freebies and extra benefits from teh state. They were called "white trash" by many newspapers.

You are right White trash is not a racist terms, but honky and cracker is. The low class shows in the TV in the States regularly use this term.
