Pakistan 'child wedding' halted

ive never heard the term karo kari used in popular discourse in Pakistan.

It is a phenomenon restricted to certain parts of upper sindh, and used as a pretext by certain rich people to hurt opponents, or gain "loyal" servants by providing "asylum" to the accused. It is not representative of Pakistani society.

but lets get back to the topic. I can see how you've managed to divert the thread to honour killings.

Burying you head in the sand like an ostrich will not teach you anything. Just google Honor Killing and you will see the results. You dont even have to put Pakistan in the google.

Are you british? I seem to have my doubts. What is your real nationality? Apart from the frequent grammatical errors, you have spelt "Honor" the American way, whereas in British English, it is spelt Honour.

Why are you masquerading as a brit?

Simple reason because he is 15 his name and his punishment cannot be disclosed by the court.

However he will be always be on the sex offenders list.

Regards

Ps : Please come back to me with the search results of honor killings in Pakistan.

actually, AN, Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (SAWS) was already engaged to another man before him at her age. even when she married the Prophet (SAWS), she did not come into the house until much later.

besides, I personally know women who have gone through puberty at the age of 9. my grandmother herself married at the age of 15 and did not have children until she was 18, not like it matters.

consent is important in Islam, and there has been a case where the Prophet (SAWS) offered to nullify the marriage of a girl who was forced into marrying someone by her own father.

They key question is how can it be called consent in terms of Children? There is a consent between the parents, but what about the children that have been engaged.

The other key factors is that children arrange marraiges where done in 1800's and early 1900's, for example my grand mother was married at age 8, but all her children including my father were married in early 20's. So one can concluded that modern times tends to push the age further in terms of marriage.

Ps. thank you for mentioning my younger daughter name, and it is spelled Aisha (or that how i named her).

So I've caught up with the fake Englishman. I'm tired of repeating myself.

We know honour killings exist, though there is no honour in such killing. I prefer to call it dis honour killing.

The vast majority of Pakistanis abhor and condemn it.

It is a punishable offence in Pakistan.

I and other pakistanis have regularly expressed shock and outrage at any such incident, even on many threadds on this forum.

WHY can you not be introspective, and accept the evils in your society too? Or the society you are faking to be a part of?

Yes, you are right jeypore. Society has chaned. But we cannot call the child marriage that has been part of our culture as evil. Because a 100 percent of such marriages were consummated AFTER puberty, after "kanya daan" "rukhsati" " giving away of the bride". No bride was given away at 8.

Under Islamic law, if there is such a marriage (which is discouraged) the boy and girl have a right to get it annulled, that is to revooke the marriage without having to consummate it. So the issue of consent is solved.

Well so is child marriage.

Most pakistani abhor it and condemn except you.

Its a punishable offence in Pakistan and in the rest of the world but YOU CONDONE IT.

Its YOU WHO NEEDS a mental change and not the world or me.

I rest my case.

As regards who I am and who I am not the MODS will decide that.

Have you heard the word parental and social pressure. Which girl in a third world country will annul her marriage on puberty and will she be allowed to do it ? Stop living in a fantasy world and come back to mother earth. oh sorry you live on the Dark star.

listen, fake Englishman, sir.

I accept that many people from the subcontinent have become dazzled by western "culture" and imported "values", and now renege on their own traditions. But you won't find me doing that.

Why dont u accept the evils of the british sex, spliff, rap culture that prevades brit society

Global incidence of teenage pregnancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The U.K, which has the highest teenage birth rate in Europe (20 births per 1,000 women aged 15–19 in 2002[3]), also has a higher rate of abortion than most European countries. 80% of young Britons reported engaging in sexual intercourse while still in their teens, although a half of those under 16, and one-third of those between 16 to 19, said they did not use a form of contraception during their first encounter. Less than 10% of British teen mothers are married and a relatively high proportion of them are under the age of 16.

Teenage preganacy is become a big problem in the western world, especially here in US. This is the result of culture in the house. And there is a fine line in this culture, if you put to much pressure upon the kids they will do it because of taboo, and if you do not put any pressure then they will have a free ride. It has become a balancing act in modern times that i believe ever parents in the western culture is going thru.
