They don't have a choice there. But that distance is fine.
It's a very big air base.
well.... if you say so....

How about this one, we can use these retired F-7, F-7Pg and mirage as cruise missiles or some kind of UCAV like China did the same thing with their F-6 @ArmchairI for one hope that Masroor is not turned over to developers and instead is used as a reserve base for mothballed aircraft. F-7Ps, F-7PGs, Mirage, ready to be activated during a crisis, and quickly operationalized to add numbers.
Given opposing cruise missiles and BMs, and how a full scale war in the future could turn out, more the bases the better.
Better to keep most of the jets near the Iran and Afghanistan borders. Since pakistan will fight a defensive war with India , deep penetration is not required into Indian territory. They don't have a choice there. But that distance is fine.

Fighter Jets have a flight radius of 400 km and upwards. The deeper your airbases the more response time you have.
Downside is that support to land forces will become more difficult.

We have stand off weapons to penetrate Indian airspace no need to fighter jet penetrations @saltyashellBetter to keep most of the jets near the Iran and Afghanistan borders. Since pakistan will fight a defensive war with India , deep penetration is not required into Indian territory.

How many non nuke missiles do you have ?We have stand off weapons to penetrate Indian airspace no need to fighter jet penetrations @saltyashell
consider the first test of Babur/RA'AD in 2006/7 may be in hundreds of RA'AD/Babur in Pakistan inventory, just my 2 cent bro and what talking about cruise missile is more effective than a manned fighter jets, they cheap to build, has a lower RCS than most of manned jet (stealth), terrain hugging/nap of the earth flight which complicate its interception @saltyashellHow many non nuke missiles do you have ?
I doubt they will be as effective as manned jets.
I might be wrong but the effectiveness of standoff missiles has never really impressed me.consider the first test of Babur/RA'AD in 2006/7 may be in hundreds of RA'AD/Babur in Pakistan inventory, just my 2 cent bro and what talking about cruise missile is more effective than a manned fighter jets, they cheap to build, has a lower RCS than most of manned jet (stealth), terrain hugging/nap of the earth flight which complicate its interception @saltyashell
no US ARM Forces relying heavily on stand off missiles in modern warfare like in first gulf war/Afghanistan attacks and second gulf war/Afghanistan attack First mass strike come from Tomahawk and AGM-86 and then second mass strike came from Strike, CAS jets on those wars @saltyashell enjoy:I might be wrong but the effectiveness of standoff missiles has never really impressed me.
The chief war mongerers , the americans always seem to rely very heavily on manned aircraft for their strikes. I have no idea why.
I think this base will have SPADA-2000, Land version of Crotale/FN-90 or may be LY-80 for this purpose Just my 2 cent bro @CriticalThought
How far is it from Indian border?
its not about the distance of of this base to the boarder but the distance of this base from the "constellation" of airbases of Indian air force specially from a newly built airbase of DEESA in Indian Gujarat which is built to support Indian Army operations inside Pakistan, its distance from Mirpur Khas is approximately 244 KM and just 76 KM from Pak-India international boarder and as per intelligence reports Indian Army have a plan to invade southern Sindh from Mirpur Khas with the objective to isolate Karachi from the rest of Pakistan by capturing National highway from the north of Karachi and from the southern side Indian Navy have to put pressure. What's so remarkable about having an air-base close to the Gujarat border? Why is this border so important?
Did this real airforce also make plans for defense of bangladesh ? U guys seem to have capitulated pretty fast.
Dont underestimate value of collective wisdom , it gets it right 9 out of 10 times.
Bases near borders are at high risk.
ObregadoI guess the thrashing of 1971 is off limits in this forum.
@HRK
Ok. I won't mention pakistans humiliation of 1971.
like we will never upgrade our Air defense in future ?In a few years our air defence will overlap with their bases, with the S-400 and XRSAM.
What about?
