Dont underestimate value of collective wisdom , it gets it right 9 out of 10 times.

Bases near borders are at high risk.
well once again i will say no one here on this forum is more experienced then AHQ . there must be a plan why to make a base here and i trust them . for me its better to trust AHQ rather then keyboard specialist .

Sir, forward bases are most definitely at a severe risk, but war IS a risky business.

well as per my understanding they can not leave all rural sindh on the mercy of India so many cities and important vial points so they have 4 major bases in the area . same you can see on other side pf border

After a long gap, Pakistan seems to be upping the ante in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat. There have been reports that Pakistan has developed an airbase along the Gujarat border.

The country has developed a modern airfield in Bholari for military aircraft operations close to the border with India in the Hyderabad district of Pakistan's Sindh province. The Pakistan Air Force is going to deploy its fleet of Chinese JF-17 fighters here.

"Though the airfield has been in existence for some time now, activities like intensive flying of combat aircraft is a recent phenomenon," sources told IndiaToday.in. The Pakistani Air Force is inducting a large number of JF-17s from China to match the Indian Air Force capabilities on its eastern front.
Pakistan's Special Service Group (Navy) commandos are also based in the vicinity of the Hyderabad base and have been known for training Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists for carrying out attacks using the sea route.

Following the rapid development on the Pakistan side, the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already cleared the setting up of a forward fighter base in Deesa, Gujarat.

The airfield will plug the air gaps on the border but will take at least three to four years to extend the runway, construct fighter pens and other infrastructure.

What's so remarkable about having an air-base close to the Gujarat border? Why is this border so important?

And despite that you lost more than a dozen aircraft despite both PA and PAF being clearly outnumbered.

Anyways both PAF and IAF have airbases in this area of 128 km and both have ability to hit them.

So it goes both ways. War is a risky business itself and India's talk talk and talk has further prove that.

To provide air cover to naval assets and to strike deep inside India.

There is a PAF FOB near Mirpur khas (near or at Sindhri airport) and its distance from the Indian border is 125km. Sukkur FOB distance from Longewala is 126 km.

On the other side of the border, they have the luxury of strategic depth. On our side, we need solid AD cover against both aircraft and missiles. In the next conflict, the first exchanges will be stand-off weapons targeting forward bases. This means Brahmos in large numbers. The area around the lower Sindh shoreline can come under attack from a dual naval/aerial attack. And the naval attack could be launched from submarines. Hence, the high risk.

I think this base will have SPADA-2000, Land version of Crotale/FN-90 or may be LY-80 for this purpose Just my 2 cent bro @CriticalThought

I for one hope that Masroor is not turned over to developers and instead is used as a reserve base for mothballed aircraft. F-7Ps, F-7PGs, Mirage, ready to be activated during a crisis, and quickly operationalized to add numbers.

Given opposing cruise missiles and BMs, and how a full scale war in the future could turn out, more the bases the better.

They don't have a choice there. But that distance is fine.

All PAF bases have nuclear bunkers. In fact Bholari does not

It's a very big air base.
