Pakistan batter Afghanistan in South Asian baseball opener

.
I really like the aspect of Pakistan doing good in US friendly sports like baseball. If Pakistanis do good then in the meidia they are represented better, example would be Amir Khan the british boxer, he gets some respect around here in the US. Imagine if many people of Pakistani origin are involved in Basketball, Baseball, or etc. how people will start having a different view on us.

- This all can only happen if people invest in sports infrastructure like building basketball or baseball courts.
(I really hate baseball as its boring compared to cricket, but if people from our country come to America and become stars than maybe i'll like it more) :)

.
I wish there was more coverage and encouragement of sports other than cricket in South Asia. When it comes to sports, i always look upto Australia as the prime example of a good sporting nation. Cricket, Swimming, Rugby winners, even football world cup quarter finalists. Anyways congrats to the Pakistani team for winning and better luck to the Afghanis for next time.

Americans are crazy about baseball, even many Pakistani-Americans are crazy about baseball. Maybe Pakistan should play against the United States in American soil, it'll be interesting.

. .
Very interesting. I didn't know Pakistan plays baseball as well. There's nothing we can't do if we put our minds to things. Pakistan Zindabad :pakistan:

Why do they use adjectives like 'battered' that leave a bad taste for the loosing team's supporters? Esp. in the Pak-Afg tinderbox.

Arshad Khan.. Farooq Khan.. Shahid Khan Afridi...
Where blind but powerful hitting is required..

I believe at one point an American team showed interest in Afridi..
had that materialized.. he would have been fifty fold wealthier than he is now.

I doubt anyone in America ever considered Afridi however for what it's worth.

Shahid Afridi is similar to Babe Ruth in the sense that he always tries to hit sixes even if it means getting out...just like Babe Ruth did with hitting home runs.

Yeah.. probably a rumor that was floating around in the late 90's..

Batting in baseball is harder than you think.....Though power does play a major factor in batting for BB, while cricket is a more stylish game....

But with the onset of 20/20, all that is changing....Dont be surprised if you see an American team emerge in the T-20 format of the game....

Looks like bangladesh and india were too afraid of being humiliated by Pakistan

No one care a damn about baseball here in India, the majority even dont know Indian international baseball team exist.

. . .
Sri Lanka and Nepal are the other two teams participating in the tournament after India and Bangladesh turned down Pakistan Baseball Federation’s (PBF) invitation.

Although the people of Bangladesh have become closer to Pakistan, their representatives in sports/politics have not. It's a shame, they have become a hindrance in Bangladeshis & Pakistanis establishing a closer relationship.
