Pakistan-Bangladesh trade volume to soon touch $1bn: envoy

Median is a much better stat to look at vs average, since higher net worth individuals will push the average higher. Median will give a better idea of the majority of populace.

Pakistans infrastructure is far far better than both India/Bangladesh infrastructure. Our highways/railways/ports are world class. India makes sense as it is a larger country thus has more roads to build by area, but Bangladesh has no excuse for crap infrastructure being a teany tiny country barely seeable on the map :D

Yet somehow people believe the "average" bangladeshi or indian is richer than the average Pakistani :D

It boggles my mind that bhartis and Bangladeshis brag about their economies but when I look a pictures of their country I don’t see shit.

On paper Pakistan might not look so hot, but there is so much black money circulating and people are pretty wealthy.

Anyways if it makes the Bangladeshis happy then Pakistan is poor and Bangladesh is emerging super power of South Asia.

:agree:

Check out the consumer market data for home electronics and appliances I posted. That includes all retail sales and so black economy is irrelevant here as this is money used to buy from whatever source.

Pakistan is behind both BD and India and will fall further behind with each passing year.

Most Pakistanis never even cared much or paid attention to BD during 60 years of them being behind Pakistan in every aspect. Good to know the true faces of black snakes when they show there true colors.

One can simply compare Pakistanis vs Bangladeshis income in US, Europe, Or the Gulf. One can simply go to Pak or BD and visit a major city and compare the infrastructure. I have provided many stats.. You will see the difference first hand. Why is it that BD with so much development and income still collects less in taxes than Pakistan with its measley tax to GDP ratio? why is it that BD infrastructure is atleast 2-3 decades behind Pakistans? why is it that the average Pakistani is able to buy more products than the average BD?

Investment in social sector does not count. That has mostly been funded via foreign aid, which again BD has taken x3-4 times more foreign AID than Pakistan over the last 2 decades, yet it is still barely ahead in most aspects of social sector.

Every indicator you will see shows India as the largest aid receiver followed by BD at 4-5th spot. Its unfortunately that many BD children are adapted in the west by white folks. Super power BD cannot even take care of its own children instead sends them off to be adopted by colonizers.

Agreed Paks main curse is black money/unregulated economy/lack of taxation. It has always benefitted our political/business class to hide sales/income. Just the other day FBR unraveled a tax evasion scheme of a large shoe manufacturer. That is just a drop in the ocean. Pakistans total economy is at least 2-3x BD size overall and average income the same. BD people are just getting used to being able to afford appliances over the last few years. Majority of Pakistanis have been purchasing vehicles/ motorbikes/appliances since the 80s :D

If you talk about household assets/wealth then there is no comparison. The average Pakistani on a global level is atleast x5 as wealthy as the average Bengali.

Yes exactly.

BD needs majority to be able to afford a TV/fridge rather than minority like now.

GDP per capita is predicted to crawl at 2-3% a year over the medium term like it has done over the last 20 years.

The market in Pakistan is just too small to bother with frankly.

PS - I do not know about the durability of Chinese products but BD's Walton offers a 5 year guarantee on it's TV panels and it's prices are not that much cheaper than Samsung/LG these days.

Tell me why you find 2X more foreign brands in PK than BD? I think they might be blind not seeing supernatural purchasing power of BD.

Any foreign brand that comes to South Asia comes to PK first. Many arent even there in BD.

First focus on making sure your country doesnt sink into the ocean in next 20 years before worrying about Pakistani people.

Pakistani middle class is still alot more wealthy and has more purchasing power than BD middle class. Go to islamabad, lahore, Karachi or peshawer and the infrastructure puts BD to shame.

If you post pictures of Islamabad/Lahore and Dhaka he gets a migrane and doesnt want to see that.

Dude, see how this started.

I just said that Pakistan will remain too poor for BD to push it's home electronics and pharma products to it and one of your countrymen put on a laugh "emoti" icon on the post.

It could become a big exporter for raw materials and foodstuffs to BD by 2030 as the BD market expands massively by then. That is a massive opportunity for Pakistan and displacing some of the exports from India at the same time.

Don't believe me then listen to ADB:

This is normal differential between BD and Pakistan we have seen for past 2 decades with a 4% difference per capita growth difference between the two countries. In 15 years BD relatively will grow its per capita twice that of Pakistan.

Pakistani market is much bigger than BD in most industries. I cant post figures here and % of their expansion.

More than a trillion rupees were spend in PK last eid. The number for BD is much lower.

BD statistics department was trained by Indian statistics department :D

Both would like you to believe they are super powers, when they are super beggars with crap infrastructure

Lets look at statistics in the west for example the US where numbers are not nearly as fudged as they would be in BD

In the US the average Bangladeshis income is roughly - $54,000
In the US the average Pakistanis income is roughly- $80,000

The same results could be repeated in europe, the gcc, etc... with Pakistanis making 50% more than Bangladeshis. Yet somehow Bangladeshis in Bangladesh make more than Pakistanis in Pakistan :toast_sign:

There is a whole thread on how their govt fudges data. Every month there is minister doing press conferences on how their per capita has increased.

One can simply look at consumption rate. Here we have an idiot talking of Bangladeshis spending more to buy appliances/vehicles well lets look at the data-

We can even look at Bangladeshi sources. From 2010-2021 a total of 365k vehicles were sold in BD. Infact this year alone close to 300k vehicles will be sold in Pakistan in 2022 alone- https://pkrevenue.com/pakistans-car-sales-surge-56-in-eight-months-of-fy22/

Not just are cars sold annually in BD almost neglectful compared to Pakistan but the total number of vehicles available in BD is nothing, within 2 years more cars are sold in pakistan than available in all of BD :D

Take into consideration the average household in Pakistan with only male working has a few motorbikes and 1-2 cars at a minimum... the average penny pincher Bangladeshi cannot even afford a car even when both males/females are working

I for one am not easily fooled.

You can't buy food and appliances with Statista and IMF numbers.

Bangladesh has gotten better than before - but on the ground situation in Bangladesh is still pretty sad.

@Skull and Bones Dada, again - what difference have you seen in your visits to Dhaka recently?

Has the general well-being of the populace improved?

Sale of cars is not an accurate indicator of the economy in Bangladesh actually. Tariffs are 300% to 800% on sale of old and new and luxury vehicles. Let's use some other method.

Hey guys..

Let’s not insult the Bangladeshis as a whole. It’s fine, if they want to insult Pakistan to feel good about themselves, I don’t mind.

I hope their country does well.

It's not all Bangladeshis. Just some AL hacks and internet IT-cell types who have an axe to grind against Pakistan.

Very shameful that they can't see beyond their narrow AL blinders....

@GOAT

Dude, this is the stark difference between BD and Pakistan in terms of where the respective home electronics markets are heading:

1. Pakistan

"
  • Revenue in the Consumer Electronics market amounts to US$8,011.00m in 2022. The market is expected to grow annually by 2.32% (CAGR 2022-2026).
  • The market's largest segment is the segment Telephony with a market volume of US$4,276.00m in 2022."

2. BD

"
  • Revenue in the Consumer Electronics market amounts to US$9,864.00m in 2022. The market is expected to grow annually by 7.92% (CAGR 2022-2026)
  • The market's largest segment is the segment Telephony with a market volume of US$5,667.00m in 2022."

Even with a population 25% less than Pakistan it already has a 20% larger consumer-electronics market now - looks like my earlier estimate of the Pakistani market still being slightly larger was wrong.

However like I say it is the growth of around 8% in BD compared to 2% in Pakistan that means the two countries will divulge massively by 2030.

So according to this data Pakistan consumer market in 2030 may be be 9.6 billion US dollars but BD will be at 18.1 billion US dollars - around twice as large.

3. Let us bring India in as well:

"

  • Revenue in the Consumer Electronics market amounts to US$71,180.00m in 2022. The market is expected to grow annually by 5.76% (CAGR 2022-2026).
  • The market's largest segment is the segment Telephony with a market volume of US$40,880.00m in 2022."

@Wood - India will have decent growth rate of around 6% with a market size around 7 times that of BD now. Little surprised but per capita BD beats not only Pakistan but India as well now.

Walton already designs and manufactures its 4K panels. It has stopped importing them from China.

You want to capture Pakistani market by belittling and denigrating Pakistanis?

Strange approach...

Comparison of PK and BD on consumption. In Almost all 200 odd consumption indicators PK is 2-6 times more on average.

Most cars/bikes sold in Pak now are produced in Pak. Only luxury high end vehicles are imported.

That too on a Pakistani forum. BD forum wouldn't provide that freedom of speech because most probably he would end up in jail if he speaks up against the govt. I have countless BD friends and they avoid criticizing the govt on social media so I understand his situation.

I asked him why there are so many foreign brands in PK and very few in BD? Most Retail brands will come to PK first and almost never to BD or very late.
