This was a known fact. IK is not revealing something new.
What Musharraf did after 9/11 incident may not be a popular decision among PA and Pakistani public (specially who have sympathy with new Afghan Islamic Government), but it actually protected Pakistan from ultimate disaster. US and its allies were all out to run over Pakistan if Musharraf had taken stand not to join in the war effort against Afghanistan/"terrorism".
Pakistan is still facing the fall back due to Musharraf's decision, but the present loss is way too less as compared to the possible loss due to anticipated invasion of US and NATO armies. Pakistan would have been turned into Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. We might have lost some part of Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and GB to India. Most importantly, we might have lost our nuclear and missile arsenal though at that time it was still at infancy stage.
Birth of TTP is the result of this fall back. Though this outfit was locally created to take revenge against PA, but some foreign spy networks started nurturing it by providing training, supplying weapons and money. Some foreign elements became part of this outfit.
After APS incident, PA was tasked to clear the safe heavens of this terrorist outfit, which PA successfully did but after paying a very huge price in form of loosing precious lives of our gallant soldiers. Now this outfit has disintegrated into number of factions and all are funded, trained and armed by our neighbour India and some other foreign spy networks (US, UK, France and Israel included). The older and original faction of TTP consist of local Madaris taliban and locals (who lost their family members by US drone attacks} from KPK and Baluchistan. Most of them were neutralised during PA action. The current outfit members are not necessarily belong to Madaris. They are recruited by Indian agents, taken to Indian training camps in India and Afghanistan (prior Afghan Taliban takeover) for training and indoctrination, sent back for the terror mission inside Pakistan. Meanwhile new outfits such as Da'esh and ISKP also popped out, whose members are also recruited in similar way.
Though our Intel agencies are doing great job by locating and neutralising these individuals, but this will not completely address the root cause. Few suggestions are appended below:
1. Pakistan has to take decision on neutralising the Indian training camps inside India. If UN do not respond to Pakistani dossiers, then Pakistan should take action by conducting surgical strikes on these camps.
2. All Madaris inside Pakistan should be brought under GoP rite.
3. Strong Intel network for efficient and reliable HUMINT.
4. GoP and other political parties should address the grievances of locals.
5. Families of terrorists should be given State support to win back their allegiance. However, the doubtful members should be monitored for any misadventure.
