Pakistan Army testing MBT-3000 next moth ?

Initial Al Khalid was MBT 2000 but with time it became lot better than MBT 2000 and AL HAIDER will be better than AL KHALID but not better than AL KHALID II
Which of the tank will be Front-line tank for Pakistan Army. Al-Khalid II or Al-Haider.

Al Haider is such good name....it gives me shivers to get Nishan-e-Haider in the tank now....Haider is common Pakistani name as well as Arabic.

Al Haider will be equal to Al Khalid II, same high end class but very different configurations.

Please rename the title @Horus.

no it will not be equal, there are certain differences.

Well because its seriously good and we are testing it if it passess the test than we would buy them

JAS-39 is also seriously good did PAF go for them? No, they stick to F-16s & JF-17s because it suits better. If a system is good it does not mean one just induct it.

Pakistan is now becoming self sufficient in designing and building tanks so we must work on our own as we already have tech available from many countries while building AK series. MBT-3000 is not as impressive as you think, its an export version of Type-99 which means its downgrade version, its engine is under powered and has heating issues which will make things bad for PA specially in desserts, it is not a new tank it is based on T-72 same as our AK so why go for new tank?? when AK can be modified to do the job and it will be done in house too. MBT-3000 must be customized to fill the requirements of PA so why a new tank when modifications are needed?? same can be done on AK.

If a totally new tank is needed as MBT then Atlay must be the basis of new tank design as it is better than any Chinese tank because it is more advance then T-90 in design and tech while MBT-3000 is still based on T-72.

The low profile of MBT-3000 looks impressive.

To say MBT-3000 is based on T-72 is like to say JF-17 is based on MIG-21. Besides, who said MBT-3000 is under powered? Who said it's engine has heating issues? Please stop to spread these crap unless you have proof to support your claim!!!

MBT/3000/VT4/Al_Haider comparison to Type 98/99 and Type 99G / ZTZ 99G NOT T 72.

copy pasting for you:

I donot know how reliable or if any good Chinese Sinodefence.com Forum is, but Miragedriver(respected member) and tank expert (TerraN_Empire) reply below:

Miragedriver:
Question: What relation is the MBT-3000 to the Type 98/99 tank?

MBT-3000 is now called VT-4, is the current version of VT-1/MBT-2000 after major upgrade?

TerraN you know more about this, can you help me out. Thanks

TerraN_EmpirE:
@ Mirage: As to a relationship between this and the Type 99? T99 is longer, heavier and wider well VT4 is just a little taller they may share the same gun both are listed as 125mm smooth bores. the engines may be related but VT4 is inferior.

Turrets look close as to the hull chassis ( both have 6 road wheels). They seem to me to be kissing cousins. likely sharing elements of there Chassis, possibly guns, basic fire control systems, hatches perhaps base turret and automotive parts. Armor wise hard to guess we know it has modules on it's hull this might be composite or ERA or both. the hull armor is likely closely related but probably not as advanced as that found on the latest 99 tanks maybe the same armor used on the first of the 99's. Both tanks likely use the same accessory systesm in terms of options for RWS or Commanders MG, coax and Smoke grenade
MBT3000 is NOT T 72, AK is NOT T72.

AND PAKISTANI CUSTOMISED VERSION 'AL HAIDER MBT' WILL be BETTER THAN MBT3000 OR TYPE 99...BECAUSE PAK ARMY HAS ACCESS TO WESTERN AND MADE IN PAK TECH, WHICH CHINESE TANKS LACK !!

Al Haider ...is this an offical designation or are we just going with it on this forum??
