Spada 2000 shall most likely be used by the PAF. Correct me if I am wrong.

Spada 2000 will be test-fired in Pakistan this year, in the mid spring if I am not mistaken.

at the moment they are not in our possesion, though missile/hardware maintenance facility has been inaugurated already and A.D. personnel have been giving necessary trainings by MBDA-Italy

This is stupid.

Lolz...the AAD have been warming its guns on 'drones' since long now, these drones (as the news called it) are small crafts that can fly at a very low altitude and being inexpensive they can be blown if one wants to have some actual taste of targeting.

These crafts are used 'in lieu' of actual fighters so that the gunner is given a close-to-real experience when it fires at it!

These 'drones' have nothing to do with RPVs or UCAVs...lolz... i thought sama news was a guud news channel, but it actually sucks!

Exactly
I think it has more to do with two things

1. A Message being sent to USA
2. PPP Government playing for local audience.

Apart from that, there is absolutely nothing worthwhile in shooting down a small prop powered air craft.

There is no msg in it. This is a standard firing practice, annually or bi-annually held, just like the news of COAS visiting Tilla firing range to witness winter or summer battle inoculation exercises, or when the Strategic Forces fire 2-3 missiles per year or so to test their readiness and get real live experience, or when PAF does its yearly live firing exercises at some firing ranges.

And drones have been used in such exercises way before when WoT started, its a standard practice around the world when live firing exercises are being held anywhere.

Exactly!

I cant believe that some people here believe we will 'shoot' down drones or this is a message to US. When will people come to term with the reality that these drones fly from within pakistan. Why on earth will anyone shoot them when they let them fly in the first place?

Discredited as nothing more than 'spray and pray' tactic. No one in radar engineering took the Serbians' claim seriously.

But sir they did managed to shoot down the most advanced Bomber in the World , that is for sure.

Any reports or analysis done and posted?

According to Sir Muradk the pilot almost stalled his jet while trying to shot down the Indian Air Force UAV as it was flying way below the F-16 stall speed so it took a lot of hard work to keep it in sight, lock and shot it down.

If i remember correctly, F16(s) were scrambled for intercept after radar(s) picked up intruding enemy craft into Pakistani airspace, and entire GCI mission was performed at night, which also demonstrated F16's excellent night time intercept capabilities as well.

Sapper

No...They got lucky. Of all the tens of thousands sorties flown, why only two aircrafts, an F-16 and an F-117, got shot down? You read that correctly -- tens of thousands of sorties. And the F-117 was hardly the most advanced. It had no radar, only a GPS assisted INS for navigation and bombing. Its flight control system (FLCS) came from the F-16 along with many other systems from many other aircrafts. You got suckered into believing that the F-117 was the 'most advanced'.

You must be joking. I have posted more than twice explanations on basic radar principles, how a radar signal behave on a surface, and why it was ludicrous that Zoltan Dani modified his Soviet radar to successfully detect, tracked and targeted an F-117. Do spent sometime to look up my explanations.

Cheerz for Info i have am very Curious about a Stealth plane being shot down by a crappy SA-3 SAM , It just does not make any sense to me.
Thanks anyway:tup:

Just to remind, PAF did shot down an Indian Israeli built UAV (Searcher I believe was the name) around Lahore with a US built A2A missile, i believe AIM-9 series was used.

So UAVs can be shot down with A2A WVR missiles.

I had specifically written predator drone, and there are no known instances of it being shot, too many fail safes.
As for the Israeli drone, it doesn't even compare.
The one that the Taliban claimed to have shot down had crashed as a result of a malfunction.

I am not concerned about Taliban, nor do i said they downed one.

I am just pointing out that drones can be targeted and downed by SAM or A2A missiles, even if it is a predator. Its not a stealth aircraft. Plus, predator is a big aircraft compared to the Searcher. So just gave a point, that if such small aircraft can be downed, then why not predator. Even one small burst from the aircraft cannon would be sufficient enough.
