A Pakistan Army soldier who was critically injured from firing in Khyber Agency succumbed to his wounds on Monday.

The military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) said, “Sepoy Waqas was performing his duties at the border post when terrorists opened fire. The soldier succumbed to his injuries at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar.”

The statement further said that “terrorists are resorting to fire from across the border taking advantage of weak border control on the Afghanistan side”. There is a requirement to check terrorists’ freedom of movement on the Afghan side of the border, ISPR urged.

Army chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa acknowledged Sepoy Waqas’s “sacrifice for the security of our motherland.”

Funeral prayers of the slain soldier were offered at Corps Headquarters Peshawar. Corps Commander Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt, IGFC Maj Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, chief secretary K-P and a large number of officers and soldiers attended his funeral prayers.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un...
Don't know why we simply not seal this border..

PM or COAS needs to issue a strong statement against Afghanistan highlighting this issue to the world. The world forgets our sacrifices because we never raise our voices when we get attacked. Whilst honourable this means the likes of India and Afghanistan get all the sympathy whilst our suffering gets ignored.

RIP brave son of soil.
His revenge should be taken from Afghan morons. It should be 10 for 1.

GOP is to be blamed, the soldiers should not die like sitting ducks, army needs to go after the terrorists, even if it means crossing the border.
