This excuse was invalid, the tribes can pass through checkpoint of the gates that set up. This was in the best interest of the region but it faced great amount of opposition, I wonder why sometimes.

We proposed this in 2005 when the insurgency was still in its infancy and one of the reasons was that the BLA were freely moving back and forth between the borders. As a result of it not happening, we are standing here today with multiple cross border attacks.

If from pakistan point of view this was invalid then they should go with the plan and fence it, it is pak territory and has nothing to do with afghanistna side.

We did try to do it, however, the ANA came and pulled down the fences this often led to them being shot at and then skirmishes ensued.

In the long term we'd have to fence it anyway - However it will cost a lot of $$$ and manpower.

Yes, i think there was some sort of tension in one point. i think pakistan should implement this plan firmly, what karzai do and say is irrelavant especially if it is in pak soil.

I too believe it is necessary to stop illegal cross border movt, but we need the cooperation of our Afghan counterparts if this plan is to succeed, but it's not too effective even if they agree, the border between the U.S and Mexico is fenced, yet still they find a way to enter U.S illegally.

at least it could minimize the problems if it cant solve it entirely.
