Pakistan Army helping South Waziristan...with ducks and chickens
By Ema Anis
Published: April 13, 2012

The people of South Waziristan have borne the brunt of ongoing militancy for years now, with security operations by the Pakistan Army disrupting life in the area time and again.
In an effort to win over the locals and to prevent the spread of militancy, the Army is trying to revive life in the highly-rugged terrain that has been the breeding ground of the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP).
The Army has set up the first poultry and cattle farms in the area, and has encouraged agriculture in Jandola, Wana and Miranshah. They are also teaching the locals duck and fish farming.
With these efforts, the locals hope that they will be able to start rebuilding their lives and have a better, violence free future.
Correction: In an earlier version of this article, Jandola was misspelled. The correction has been made.

They should also assist in repairing all of the damaged infrastructure of that region
