They were on a training mission and the heli crashed due to some technical fault.

Yes u are right cuz I know somebody who witnessed this helicopter roaming around 12:30am till 1:15am like 200meters above ground....the area is almost 1-2km away from PMA kakul road its called Thanda Chowa Village area now developed into a small town... The helicopter looked like on training exercise... there seemed to be some kinda faulty noise coming from its engine(from the noise it looked like something iswrong with it).....there was some kinda explosion ...but the helicopter fell 15 minutes after the explosion..... The helicopter lights were turned off....and it was roaming around in the radius of 2 to 3 kilometers....over that area...the guy seen this all from his roof top....cuz he was amazed why the helicopter is not landing for one hour and is flying without its lights turned on(maybe the lights were not wrking)..maybe it was trying to find place to land in some open area....the whole area was covered under darkness due to load shedding at that time...After the incident pplz seen rushing towards the scene area...The more detail will be seen tomorrow I guess...

no it was not Cobra..its regular transport helicopter...

no there was no cannon fire, I guess it was some kinda training exercise going on there...some blasting etc...like grenades blasting...

Cannon fire is a very common sound in Abbottabad,nothing unusual.So are routine flights of army helicopters,but those gunships have never been seen in the area,as there is no gunship training facility there.The helicopter was most probably carrying army officers.
Its a big inferno and survival of anybody on board has low probability,but lets hope for the best.At leat one person has been transported to the hospital,not clear if helicopter occupant or civilian.

Yes it was not gunship...but a regular Army transport helicopter...

Pakistan Army Aviation Helicopter Crashes Near Abbottabad


A helicopter belonging to the Pakistan Army Aviation has crashed early today near Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul Road in Abbotabad. Heavy gunfire was reported by the locals just before the helicopter went down Sikandarabad area of the town.

It is yet not cleared if helicopter crash actually resulted due to the gun fire or it faced some technical problems. Details about the passengers on board are still coming. Pakistan Army Aviation helicopters are flying over the area after the crash and Rescue efforts are underway as different law enforcement agencies are converging near the crash site.

I just pray there was minimum loss of life

Dont know the latest,but an hour ago the fire was still burning and the area has been cordoned off by army and local authorities..All the local top brass was there and people and media were not being allowed near the location.
