What's new

Pakistan army had begun test on MBT 3000

It is not my position to disclose that information but rest assured, there are three other tanks in the running for these trials.

Two of those candidates are unlikely if you know which I refer to. What is worrisome is that there were reports of the usual pie dippers that are inevitably a part of the procurement process going around and trying to influence the deal with their millions in kickbacks.

The board was very transparent from what I saw, all very well qualified Armoured Officers with plenty of experience, some from the original AK Project.

Sir now that is news for me thanks Sir by the way Is the new Al Khalid which was supposed to come is that project dead ?

I have no such information.

There's no fixed list but important considerations are:

Compatibility with existing overhaul/production facilities.
ToT
Suitability for local weather conditions
Troop familiarity with platform
Overall technical soundness of the platform
Spares, Service and Supplies

This is more towards the expertise of @Oscar though, he can offer a more convincing answer.

Altay is a very nascent platform, it is not in consideration.

Why are we even thinking of acquiring new tanks ? Didn't the Al-Khalid, AK-1s and possible AK-2s cut it for us ? :(

And can I get an Al-Khalid for myself ? :ashamed:

These motorcyclists and rikshawalaas are a real pain....I swear they materialize out of thin air whenever I am driving my car ! :o:

I bet an Al-Khalid would keep them at bay ! :smokin:

AK has been adopted as a mainstay but we still need to diversify and update our tank fleet, the T-59s and T-85s have to go soon and we are looking at a suitable replacement.

I have been snooping around, just didn't find a thread that I felt I should engage over.
