Pakistan Army chief Raheel Sharif to visit U.S. in November

Pakistan’s Army chief General Raheel Sharif will visit the U.S. in November for crucial security talks with American defence officials.

General Sharif’s week-long visit is likely to start from mid-November and preparations for trip are underway, defence sources said.

General Sharif has been invited by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey. He is expected to meet Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel, Cenycom Commander General Lloyd Austin and also visit Centcom headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

He goes to the U.S. armed with the success of military operation in North Waziristan, which is predecessor Ashfaq Kayani refused to launch despite American pressure.

The visit also shows that U.S. is again ready to engage with Pakistan military, which has emerged stronger in the current power struggle in the country.

PK will discuss progress/success of op-ZEA. at the lower-level tactical issues/defence equipment will be reviewed. i'm sure the availability of the super-cobra will be raised. i'm not expecting any major breakthrough though.

IF we get the super cobras that will be a major breakthrough but as far as i get your point, you do not see us getting them
Just one point that might work in our favor is, keeping in view the recent success of operation zarb-e-azab and Pakistani inclination towards Russia for attack helos, Americans might be interested in stepping up and through a few options of there own regarding the procurement (that will be Cobra's off course, which model remains to be seen, still, i think if talks reach that point PA will surely ask and push for super cobra). MRAP procurement may also see some development.
