PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES RESTRUCTURING!!!

Pak mil has produced geniuses like Gen Tariq Khan, Hamid Gul, Ao Mitha, Ihsan ul Haq, and Raheel Sharif among others.
The General Staff and High Command of a Military is not a monarchy, in essence it is a well lubricated machine that works with all parts fit for action.

Pakistan has produced some good field commanders and tactical masterminds, yet the GHQ has largely flopped due to not working as a unit, and following the say of one man, or a group.

Kargil was a very apt example of how the High Command failed it's men, left them to die for absolutely no strategic gain. They fought much better than the Indians in face of all odds, yet we don't have a goddamn memorial to recognize their sacrifices.

Currently Bilal Akbar and Nadeem Raza seem to be the top guns of the redtape brass. Anyways was just an opinion.

Yep, I used to be staunch GHQ supporter until the OBL raid opened my eyes. Till this day, no one really knows what happened, was (1)GHQ in secret agreement with US? If so, nothing came out of it years later and certain generals involved brought irreparable damage to this country or (2)Did US really sneak into top military academy and take a man without slightest resistance? Were the radars really turned off? lol

Fall of Dhaka, Kargil, OBL raid, and other failures should open everyone's eyes. It's the top brass that are the problem. Terrible mistakes were made, over and over again, with massive repercussions. The things that make up for the incompetence of top brass are the (1)brave young soldiers dying at the front lines and (2) incompetence of Indian military.

Either way you look at it, there needs to be civilian oversight and there needs to be restructuring. In regards to promotion, IMO, there needs to be some sort of metric to measure capability of soldier, mental, physical, tactical & strategic planning, combat experience, time spent in training exercises, etc. No longer should experience and seniority be the main factor. A person should not have to be promoted for the sake of it.

Before you fire at me, I also have relatives in army. They are loaded with cash. Please read up on IDF special forces "Gibbush". I like how they select the cream of the crop in their country.

Pakistan Armed forces need restructuring , four four star generals should be given the command of North South and East and West Boarders , they should report to General Chief of Army Staff . The position of COAS is no more required . It will eliminate the danger of martial Law in country . Pakistan suffered lot of economical losses in 35 years of martial law rule. The armed forces should be reduced to 150000 to 250000 regular army . All adult citizen of Pakistan male and female should be trained and they should serve the defence forces for 40 days per year. The 75% armed budget can be utilized in high tech weapons and space satellites, research and development , development of 5th generation fighter planes ,missile defence systems and drones technology.

Please give your suggestions!.

Thanks,

What is the principle motivating factor for restructuring in middle of a war?

Did you put this idea in front of your class fellows who are in the forces?

.
- just breaking it into parts for the sake of avoiding coups is a false precaution which will be detrimental to its capability -
Why do you think this proposed restructuring would be detrimental to the capability of the Pakistani army rather than improving its capability?

Army is ONE MAN.

Either way you look at it, there needs to be civilian oversight and there needs to be restructuring.
What exactly are you referring to when you say 'civilian oversight'? Are you talking about an entity that audits military expenses and projects and submits reports and recommends action? Does the military already have such an internal auditing process?

No longer should experience and seniority be the main factor. A person should not have to be promoted for the sake of it.
Why do you think that's not the case now?

Was Musharraf not a decorated special forces officer, who had seen combat extensively? Kargil was his idea.

Suggestion is good but it will never be implemented and opposed by army.I think more power should be gi vven to chairman joint chief of staff and army chief power should be reduced like in u.s army it will reduce risk of military takeover we should follow u.s army structure

Bhutto attempted to restructure the army. He might have been successful in the long run but was overthrown. Zia Ul Haq highjacked whatever structural changes he had managed & turned them into army's favour. The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee was supposed to be a meaningful appointment and rotated among the tri-services. Since the creation of the post, it has mainly been held by a general from the army.

Your idea is good, but I think CJCSC should not be too powerful. A single powerful individual would defeat the purpose. CJCSC should be principle military adviser to the PM and liaison between the tri-services. The chairmanship should be rotated between the tri-services as planned. The service chiefs should have administrative roles only. The commanding powers should be delegated to the corps commanders, each being a four-star general.

Someone finally with some knowledge of the subject. I will add that Corps can stay but Commands should be established, which should have integration of all services and Commanders directly reporting to the Prime Minister when it comes to mobilisation of the troops.

This way, the chances of a coup go to almost zero and you have a Military which is administratively transformed for generations to come.

The statement is qualified precondition sir
" for the sake of avoiding coups"

E.g only one truck and a jeep is used by military in its coups

Other than that i already agreed with modern concept of smaller mobile resourceful force
